Moore nonsense! (Edmonton Sun article on Michael Moore)
Edmonton Sun ^ | January 26, 2006 | NEIL WAUGH

Posted on 01/26/2006 9:46:32 AM PST by TruthSetsUFree

Last Friday, Michael Moore made a last, desperate attempt to interfere in the Canadian federal election, by writing a letter to Canadians.

The Large Hairy One didn't exactly call his letter "Stephen and Me" - like he did with his carve job of former General Motors boss Roger Smith (who actually deserved all he got). But the celebrity American lefty clearly showed his distaste for the Conservatives.

Although, he admitted the Liberals he was shilling for "have some explaining to do."

Obviously Moore was aware of the cheap and nasty campaign to which pathetic Paul Martin had stooped in the final death throes of his failed and scandal-ridden regime.

However, ideology won over corruption in the "Fahrenheit Minus 30 Mike's Letter."

The Tories called it "fear and smear."

"Do you want to help George Bush by turning Canada into his latest conquest?" Moore blasted. He described voting for Stephen Harper's Conservatives as "the next notch in the cowboy belt.

"If you're going to reduce Canada to a cheap download of Bush and Co.," Moore continued, "then at least don't surrender so easily.

"Can't you wait until he threatens to bomb Regina?" I'm sure that got the teeny-tiny Liberals in Martin's election war room rolling on the floor.

But it obviously didn't impress enough Canadians, who gave Harper a slim minority in Monday's vote. And now Martin has a U-Haul parked on the 24 Sussex Drive driveway.

Those Harper-Bush attack ads were the bottom of the barrel.

They triggered a mid-campaign caution from U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins that Martin's Yank-bashing has serious consequences.

He called it a "toxic attitude," and warned of the slippery slope of "thumping your chest and criticizing your friend and No. 1 trading partner" constantly.

"Americans are our friends," Alberta Premier Ralph Klein agreed. And more to the point, "they are our largest trading partners."

Dubya may still be plotting to carpet-bomb Regina, but I think Edmonton and Calgary are now safe.

There was no apparent hostility coming from the White House.

Presidential spokesman Scott McClellan, in yesterday's press gaggle, described the 20-minute phone chat Bush and Harper had as a "good conversation."

Then he took what sounded like a shot.

"We have good relations with Canada and we want to build upon those relations," said McClellan, "and strengthen those ties."

On election day, United States Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns committed to keeping the border open to Canadian cattle - despite the discovery of yet another BSE-infected cow in Alberta.

Certainly the timing couldn't have been better for R-Calf - the protectionist U.S. cattle producers' outfit which is back in court to get the border closed to Canadian beef.

"This tells us that the BSE prevalence rate in Alberta seems to be extremely higher than in other parts of Canada," said new R-Calf president Chuck Kider.

Then R-Calf slammed our animal health standards.

"Not only is Canada not testing the minimal level of cattle for a country not yet affected by BSE," R-Calf CEO Bill Bullard slammed.

"In addition, Canada should be testing a much greater number of cattle given the multiple cases of BSE."

Of course, all this will soon be presented to a Billings, Montana judge as yet another reason to get the border closed again.

And then there's the festering softwood lumber duty issue.

Bush promised that the White House is "committed" to bringing it to a resolution.

"Seriously," countered Moore in his letter to his "crazy cold Canadian neighbours. You're not going to elect a guy who should really be running for governor of Utah?"

I think we just did. And about time too.

Have another doughnut, Michael. I think your blood sugar is running a little low.

He's also deeply corrupt and a hypocrite. The man owns shares of Haliburton and a gun. Evil pays - in the short term.

Pork--er, Canadian Bacon (below: cover of video of a movie he directed; strangely, his name is not prominently displayed. Hmm. Heard it sucked anyway.)

I wondered that, too. It didn't sound like a shot to me, unless it was at Martin, who actually weakened Canadian-U.S. ties. McClellan's comments seem to indicate that with Martin out of the way those ties have a chance of being strengthened.

WHY doctors and nurses are leaving Canada IN DROVES to come to this country?

Actually they're not. Last year more moved back to Canada than left.

Does the word "hypocrisy" apply?

As much as the word "Agenda". All these pricks have things to gain financially.

Read "Do as I Say, Not as I do: Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy" by Peter Schweizer. Excellent book!

"Actually they're not. Last year more moved back to Canada than left."

Sorry...I find that one hard to believe. Maybe it's a stat from M. Moore? Or maybe there are pigs flying over Texas now. Or maybe there are just a few more doctors and nurses RETIRING after making their bucks here. THEN they get to go back "home" and collect their subsidized paychecks? Call it what you will...it's still socialism.

"cant count"

... seemingly almost as severe an affliction as being unable to adequately type and/or spell?

You seem to be attempting to set some sort of all time record for the greatest number of moronic, intentionally rude & downright Trollish posts ever made over an initial week on FR.

BTW, in the unlikely event you're not soon bounced, the spell check button is located two over to the left from the one you've already discovered marked "post".

I do use the spell button since I get raged so much for mistakes. You type in cant count and see what you get. If the spell button doesn't work I don't see how its my fault. Yes I don't type very much big deal.

Well it's true. As for the socialism comment you made. I didn't label it anything . However with Medicare, Medicaid and some social programs you have that Canada hasn't even considered yet if you want to call it socialism , go ahead . You should know more about it than I.

"More doctors have come back to Canada than have moved abroad for the first time since 1969, according to a study from the Canadian Institute for Health Management (CIHI).

Last year, 314 physicians returned to Canada and 262 moved"

The report called Supply, Distribution and Migration of Canadian Physicians, 2004 also showed that between 2000 and 2004, the number of doctors in Canada grew by 5% from 57,803 to 60,612. The number of doctors per 100,000 people has remained stable at about 189.

It works because "cant" is a word; although doubtless, given the context, not one you intended to use.
However, if you truthfully used the "spell" feature prior to making your initial post as you claim, didn't it indicate at least two other subsequently uncorrected errors?

Actually, I hope you don't get broomed too soon Newbie.
As noted on other threads as well, the moronic rudeness followed up with defensive whining is rather amusing in a pathetic sort of way.

Yesterday's sniveling about not going to college was a gem!

I'm really p*ssed over the Minority HG!! The major cities of Montreal, cesspool Toronto, and drug addict heaven Vancouver, took a pile of seats away from us. These clusters of welfare bums just might not get welfare so easy under a Stephen Harper. They were'nt willing to risk that it seems. Also, I am seriously disgusted with the Maritimes, canada's crack whore - voting for the party(s) that give the handouts.

Harper is an absolute gem but it's going to be tough go facing 3 left wing parties in opposition. He'll need God's help that's for sure. But look for some immediate first steps toward pleasant Can/US relations. Also, the gun registry should be history right away, the border guards are going to armed right away, the Military will get major money to rebuild right away, kiss Kyoto goodbye etc. etc.

Don't forget, over a decade of real LEFT Liberal rule has done it's damage. I'm astounded at Ontario who SHOULD have pulled in a lot more seats for the Conservatives than it did. CO

I don't think I'm overly rude when you compare me to all of the other people who use this site including you. I don't get what makes you better than me but if that's what you think then go ahead. If it makes you feel better then go for it. I thought you would of learned more than that in college. I guess they don't teach every thing!! Maybe you can get your money back.

A. You've been on FR for 6 days and have now accumulated something like 5 pages of mostly insulting and/or ignorant comments combined with the sort of whining you've posted above whenever someone bothers to respond to them.

B. I haven't & am unaware of anyone else who claimed to be "better" than you.
However, if you're feeling a tad inadequate based upon the general reaction you've received over the past week to your imagined wit, I'm not about to argue the point with you.

C. Although you've made assumptions as to my educational background with your by now habitual bluster, you actually have no way of knowing what it might be.
I merely noted how you sniffed about not having been to college after you'd been badly intellectually out-classed by 'conservative in nyc' & a few good FReepers on this thread yesterday.

Bottom line:
A wannabe bully who can't take a punch and yet picks fights & cries like the littlest liberal whenever receiving one in return.

That's right, we were.

And speaking of myself, I knew enough to keep any obnoxious, uninformed opinions to myself until I learned enough to participate.

You might want to try that.
