Salazar's Splutterings [Wendy Long 01/26 12:18 PM] Ken Salazar, who has been completely neutered as a political force by his own scheming, twisting, waffling, and blowing whatever way he wrongly thinks a political wind might be blowing, is obviously frustrated. What would be the metaphor? Neutered cat trapped in corner? Never mind....
Salazar is stuck. He can't filibuster Judge Alito, because that would be political suicide with the great majority of Colorado voters who, like the great majority of Americans, want Senators to do their jobs and vote on judicial nominees. But, unfortunately for him, he chose to make his bed with the extreme liberal left of the Democratic Party, and they really, really want Judge Alito to be filibustered.
What's a two-faced politician with meager intellectual ability to do in such a pickle?
In a telephone news conference yesterday, in which Salazar was forced to commit not to be part of any Democratic filibuster of Judge Alito, Salazar simultaneously tried to appease the Angry Left he with which he has now cast his lot. He suggested that he might have filibustered Justice Clarence Thomas: "There are members of the U.S. Supreme Court that I very much disagree with. Clarence Thomas, for example, I think is an abomination when you contrast him to the leadership and principles of someone like Thurgood Marshall. I've been in front of the court and I know the justices."
For starters, Ken, it's "Justice" Thomas to you.
And we look forward to the day when you publicly agree to a debate about the Constitution with Justice Thomas or anyone else of his "leadership and principles," as you would put it.
And finally, you have unwittingly admitted it: a judge or Justice is an "abomination" to you if he or she is someone you "disagree with." Like your fellows on the far Left, to you the Courts are just political machines. If they don't bend to your liberal will ... well, they're an abomination!
Great....keep running on this theme. You and other liberals who insist on politicizing the courts and the confirmation process can run yourselves right into the ground. Your opponents will continue to explain the enduring value of faithfulness to the Constitution and an independent judiciary.
Ken Salazar beat Republican Pete Coors in the general election. Pete Coors beat former conservative Congressman Bob Schaffer in the GOP primary. I think Bob Schaffer would have made a better Senator then either Salazar or Coors. 2010 is still a ways off, but can't wait for someone to challenge Salazar for his Senate seat. This year would be a good time for someone to step froward and take back the old Scott McInnis GOP House seat now held by Democrat John Salazar, brother of Ken Salazar.
Salazar is but one of many idiotic windbags. If we could only harness the terrible and mighty cyclonic wind generated just by the wagging tongues of Salazar, Schumer, Clinton, Boxer, Pelosi, Kennedy, Murray, Reid, and Biden, we would have enough energy to light up the world for centuries. And then, at long last, liberals will have done something beneficial to society.
Visualize liberal bloviating- our vast untapped energy source.
He's an ignorant buffoon! In other words...HE (salizar) is the REAL abomination. Little man spreading his wings to look like he is important. Well, he opened his mouth and now he will have to deal with the consequences. To disagree or not vote or whatever his plan is his right but...like all the lefties...he has to personally attack and call Justice Thomas an abomination.
By the way has salizar met every single one of the justices?????????????????? I think NOT!!! He's a blowhard and decided to get some face time by jumping on the bandwagon of attack of the lefties. That's all. He is insignificant. The lefties can have this guy.
hey salizir...Alito WILL be confirmed and will take his seat of honor with the HONORABLE Justice Clarence Thomas ... something you aren't qualifed to do.
Salazar is an idiot. He once owned a Dairy Queen and thought that made him qualified to run for office. During his campaign he ran these stupid ads, wearing a cowboy hat and riding a horse around. Colorado voters fell for it. They thought he was a "real" cowboy or something based on the fact that he could sit on a horse.
Why do the good people of Colorado have to put up with him. Just have Coors give the money for a recall. Whether it works or not it sure can give him & others fits while in office. Might shut up their little putrid socialistic mouths.
As a 30 year resident of Colorado, I know all about Ken Salazar. He was a decent AG for the state, as long as the GOP and Bill Owens ran the show. Liberal on certain issues, conservative on some issues, but he always placed Colorado first. It's no secret, once a Democrat like Salazar gets to WashDC he becomes part of the liberal beltway establishment. I agree, Salazar is an idiot. A two faced idiot. Let's have a recall election.
I am looking to learn something here. Do some states actually have recall provisions for United States Senators? Or is this only for State officers? I am asking because I live in a State which has no recall provisions whatsoever.
It was more a statement of hope and desire then anything else. I'm not sure if US Senators can be recalled. Even there is a recall provision, I doubt an effort will be made.
Is this the same Wendy Long who just won the U.S. Senate primary in NY..............
