That's right. They can stick this electronic .... right up theirs!
BTTT
Texas Animal Health Commission link on this topic:
"The 'for the public good' argument makes me sick as it quickly leads us down the path of totalitarianism."
Agreed. I raise laying hens for eggs, and to sell to other people in the area that want to have a few hens around the house. (People in our surrounding towns and even cities can keep up to four hens, now.)
If the day comes and they come to my farm to "tag" my chickens, I will start butchering and find something else to do.
Brought to you by the United States Department of Agribusiness.
The expenses associated with this are not a big deal to folks like Tyson and ConAgra, but they will kill the small farmer (or make them serfs to the AgriCorps).
I have an email forwarded to a list that detailed a conversation with some of the state officials in Oklahoma who are going to implement this. I will post it when I find it and get permission from the originator.
To the small farmer, the USDA is not your friend!
This is insane!!!
I know you're joking, but it sounds all to possible.
The fact that europe does something is the best reason I can think of not to do it. Europe is the most disfunctional place on earth.
I am a small producer....120 brood cows. I susupect I will get out before I comply with such regulations. Small producers account for the majority of beef produced in this country. I feel this will demoralize many as they are already puched to the limit with small profif margins.
The calf we bought a few months ago had a sticker on his side with a number and a barcode on it.
Argh.....leave my goats alone.
I thinnk you are right. I'm in the same boat. It will kill 4-H. Every 4-H animal has to have this.
That was just for the yard. These tags are in the left ear and have a 15 number code and are charged when a wand is passed over to read them.
We have to keep paperwork on them and have transport papers kept up to date every time they leave the ranch. The reason for this I was told was to deter thieves and rustlers. Yeah right.
I am so against this, I can hardly find the words.
I am able to ride my horses directly from my property. This means I have to report my every movement that I make, or I am a criminal.?? Bull----!!
The cost factor alone is far more onerous than people realize.
Every car and truck and trailer in the USA has had a VIN number for a number of years, and the police cannot seem to adequately find them and match them with their owners who have reported them stolen.
The cities, counties, states and the Federal government CANNOT keep track of CONVICTED SEX OFFENDERS, and now they propose to track every animal?
GIVE ME A BREAK.
Every time a kid competes with his or her pony at a local schooling show, the animal is to be kept track of. This will put most horse shows out of business. Only the pros will compete, no more lead line classes for your grand kids, etc.
There are more horses in the USA today than ever before, even before the mechanization of farming. This puts a hell of a burden on each and every one of them. Do you see having a pony for your grandkids and having to buy a scanner that costs "only" $800 to keep track of it? I don't think so.
If I have an emergency and have to take one of my horses to the vet or the clinic, I will be damned if I will wait on the phone to get permission from someone in the "government".
Either I will become an instant criminal, or the government can come and take my horses and dogs and feed them. Since they do such a poor job at so many other things, I don't expect them to take better care of them than I do.
We cannot keep track of thousands of illegal intruders coming across the border from Mexico, and they want to track every single animal and pet bird and chicken in the USA?
Someone's got a rather large screw loose.
They can pound sand. I will not comply.
It is a logistical nightmare, I agree, but anyone who makes their living with livestock will be forced to comply by virtue of their sales being denied if they don't. It sure is screwy.
Hahaha, that is funny.
God DOES have a sense of humor, who but the almighty could have seen the future, and called it so precisely? The code that will track all movements, will be first perfected in the beasts.
