World opinion round-up...
To: Dark Skies
It's six of one, or half-dozen of the other:
Fatah, measured against any other standard in the world, is ALSO a terrorist organization. It's military wing, the al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, doesn't have as large a body count to its credit as does Hamas, but it is every bit as merciless and deadly.
I'm sure our brilliant Roadmap for Peace will have all the answers!

The pieces are really falling into place for Iran. They canfight Israel by proxy now on two fronts: Gaza and southern Lebanon. They don't give a crap about the Palestinians, so they make for great cannon fodder in inciting a war with Israel.
One ramification: This may give Bibi the Prime Ministry in response.
To: Dark Skies
"This is a victory to all the regions free people," said Ayyoub Muhanna, a 29-year-old Lebanese who owns a spare parts shop in the southeast town of Rashaya.
Snort! No it is a victory for anarchy you dolt.
To: Wasanother
Is it? Think about that.
Hamas will work to destroy Israel and we will come to the defense if Israel. Money will be diverted is all, if not cost more...
Soloution? Nuke both Hamas and Iran. End it now.

Well, it's at least all out in the open now. The world will have to treat the PA as the terrorist organization that it has always been.

One ramification: This may give Bibi the Prime Ministry in response. That would be good. But it looks like we're on the brink of WWIII.

"It is up to Hamas to choose. We will have to wait and see, the international community will want Hamas to make a proper rejection of violence and to acknowledge that Israel exists," he said.
Stupid Western politicians. All you have to do is throw them a bone and they roll over with barely a whimper. Anyone who thinks Hamas will accept Israel's right to exist and actually mean it is either dangerously naive or borderline retarded.

One ramification: This may give Bibi the Prime Ministry in response. It's the ramification I'm hoping for. Israel needs Bibi now more than ever.

Yep, this "wait and see" crap is the wrong response. Stop the checks now, and "wait and see" if they renounce violence, acknowledge Israel's right to exist, blah blah, then start a long probation period -- which resets at any terrorist attack -- to get the money starting again.

Brink?
WW IV (Islam v. the West, Christian and secular) already started (the Cold War was WW III). But thus far it's been slow motion like the last one--heck maybe it's got dibs on being WW I since it really started in the 7th century.
Let's go back to the old way of naming wars: the US is now involved in the 1400-Years War. (And if the other side keeps pushing, that's about how long it will have lasted. If they really insist, we can hand Islam the devastating defeat they deserve just in time for the 1400th anniversary of Mohammed's first battle.)

I can see it now, after the first Hamas-sponsored suicide bombing:
Hamas takes credit for suicide attack - Jerusalem Post, NY Post, Fox News Hamas condemns suicide attack - Reuters, NY Times, LA Times, AP, ABCBSNBC

Israel needs Bibi now more than ever.I agree. I think, as several posters have said up-thread, this all works out for the best.
At least we will see the true colors of this so called palestinian state movement. Maybe the liberal Israelis and pro-palestinians in the U.S. will reconsider their positions.

Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister, said that the victory of the Islamic militant group Hamas in Palestinian legislative elections was a "very, very, very bad result." The understatement of the year. But at least he spoke the truth.
