Iraq's WMD Secreted in Syria

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein's air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.
The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, "Saddam's Secrets," released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.
"There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands," Mr. Sada said. "I am confident they were taken over."
Mr. Sada's comments come just more than a month after Israel's top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam "transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria."

The problem here is that the Administration has capitulated that the prewar intelligence was wrong. If they know the WMD's are in Syria why haven't they done anything about it? They let the Dems steal the moral authority away from the war, leading to fiercer oppostion from the insurgency. Before anyone says it's a Rove "rope a dope", political strategy is way down the priority list in this case.
It doesn't make any sense.

Not enough evidence in the sense that we don't have the "merchandise".

Perhaps because knowing and proving are two entirely different beasts.

The problem here is that the Administration has capitulated that the prewar intelligence was wrong. If they know the WMD's are in Syria why haven't they done anything about it? I have my own theory. The Dems are too wedded to their "No WMDs!" line of attack to ever let that go. And for the Bush Admin, one criticism of the planned invasion before it happened was that it would scatter the WMDs - which is what appears happened. And I think the Bush Admin thinks that such a revelation would cause more political damage than the limited damage the Dems have caused to date with their No WMDs attacks.
But that's just my opinion.

It would seem to me that the threat still exists..whether in Iraq or Syria. Assad isn't exactly a nice guy.

I feel the same way...politics first, while the insurgency and the anti war movement grows! Very weak if that is the case.

Yes, I think if it was not Syria it was evacuated by Russians, KGB has a long history of moving all kinds of crap, up to M1 tank engines by diplomatic mail..

"I am not holding my breath until the NYT, Wash Post, the networks, and all their small-time copiers report this. You could hand them actual, real-time video of these WMDs and they wouldn't report it."
Just because the book makes these claims, doesn't necessarily mean it's true. Nonetheless, the MSM report as fact many unsubstantiated claims that appear in books. And you are correct, they are not likely to give this one any publicity; they have too much at stake in claiming that Saddam had no WMDs - it has become part of the official wisdom, and they will not allow it to be challenged until Bush is long out of office.

If they wqere scattered we can thank Sen Rockefeller for that as he made a trip to the Middle East and warned them we were coming. Does this sound like treasonable actions.
