The problem here is that the Administration has capitulated that the prewar intelligence was wrong. If they know the WMD's are in Syria why haven't they done anything about it? They let the Dems steal the moral authority away from the war, leading to fiercer oppostion from the insurgency. Before anyone says it's a Rove "rope a dope", political strategy is way down the priority list in this case.

It doesn't make any sense.

Not enough evidence in the sense that we don't have the "merchandise".

Perhaps because knowing and proving are two entirely different beasts.

I have my own theory. The Dems are too wedded to their "No WMDs!" line of attack to ever let that go. And for the Bush Admin, one criticism of the planned invasion before it happened was that it would scatter the WMDs - which is what appears happened. And I think the Bush Admin thinks that such a revelation would cause more political damage than the limited damage the Dems have caused to date with their No WMDs attacks.

But that's just my opinion.

We are watching a 3 dimensional chess game while only being permitted to view one of the three boards.

The USA took very strong (and necessary) action against Iraq with the strongest foreign opposition we have ever faced in these types of circumstances. We have disrupted a huge financial gravy train for Russia, France, Germany and who knows where else. We are working to do the same in the United Nations. When I become frustrated and impatient with our President, I refocus on the heavy lifting that has been and is being done by President George W. Bush. Heavy lifting that has been avoided by generations of Presidents. Heavy lifting that has been under attack by the hyena pack press, traitors in Congress, foreign financiers, foreign governmental leaders and the entertainment media as we have never seen before.

When I think of the united, corrupt opposition to our President, I am amazed that he has accomplished what he has accomplished and that God has protected him from assassination.

So, in response to your question/comment: President Bush has navigated a chess game way beyond all of his smart critics. He has taken his arrows and will continue to do so. But his moves, so far, have made better progress than I would have dreamed possible considering the obstacles. He has my respect.
