Senate Starts Final Debate On Alito

Alito has enough support from 51 Republicans and Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska to assure his confirmation.

With the rest of the chamber's Democrats showing little interest in a filibuster, the 100-member Senate is expected to make it official with a majority vote before Bush's State of the Union on Jan. 31.
