The chew on Greyhound wasn't personal, just opening thread topic. It has been suggested by better educated than me, that Congress could declare that babies of illegals, insofar as they are legally not supposed to be here, have no legal standing to claim a 14th Amendment citizenship.

I confess, I am not comfortable with that arguement and would prefer an Amendment, but might make for a nice SCOTUS case if Congress could be so moved.

By the way, EV, is my memory failing or does Bill Lester resonate here?

Bill Lester had it exactly right, that's for sure. A great man.

Unfortunately, he was one more victim of the Bush open borders political operation.

A real shame. He'd have been a fine Congressman.

Even if Congress were so moved, and it was upheld as Constitutional, it would only addresses those born AFTER the effective date of the legislation - no ex post facto laws allowed (THAT would definitely require a Constitutional Amendment). So, the problem remains how to move 19 million illegal immigrants in less time than Hitler was able to move 6 million.
