That would be the same Arlen Specter who puts his finger to the wind and votes with us when it doesn't matter. He's also the same Arlen Specter that fired a warning shot accross the President's bow the day after he was elected. It's the same Arlen Specter that will turn on you like a pit-viper in a heart beat if it serves his purpose. It's the same Arlen Specter who now chairs the Judiciary Committee instead of rock solid conservative John Kyl (who was next in line).

And who favors 1) Congress punting social issues to the courts, and 2) the SCOTUS decision in Rasul, that granted habeas corpus rights to enemy combatants held at Gitmo.

Specter can do okay, but he's no prize. He's got a couple qualified Circuit Court judicial nominations bottled up in his committee for about a year now.
