Today, President Bush welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to the Oval Office where the two discussed the relationship between the two countries, and made a joint statement to the press. Later in the day, President Bush welcomed 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart to the South Lawn of the White House where they posed for a photo op with the Nextel Cup Champion team (and the winning Chevrolet !) He also met with West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in the Oval Office, whose legislative proposals to improve mine safety have passed by the West Virginia Senate unanimously.

Today, the Senate Committee voted along party lines to send the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Senate floor for confirmation.

Harry Reid couldn't swagger if his life depended upon it. Mostly Harry Reid creeps, or oozes.

New Jersey folks have grit. I love the way Alito showed that he was brilliant and completely in command of reams of legal information, and yet also exhuded great humility.

He's just a good guy!

He's added about 30lbs to the left side of his car.

That sounds lovely. Today it was windy and cold here and some strange form of precipitation was falling.

I have NO idea what it was. Not snow, not rain..........no idea. :)

We had that weird stuff too! It was like drizzle with glops of something! Very strange.

LOL! What a mental image........Harry trying to swagger and melting into an oozing mass.......

I think the President's masculinity really gets to these guys...........and they aren't smart enough not to let it show.

It's really quite amusing.

It's easy to understand: Harry Reid is a nerd. George Bush is a jock. It's high school envy writ large.

No........not sleet, and not freezing rain.

I think 'drizzle with glops of something' comes as close as anything I can think of.

At one point, there were little tiny snowballs coming down too. ODD day.

But aren't you supposed to grow out of that problem by the time you're 19 or 20??

How old is Harry anyway? What's he doing talking about swaggering?? Sheesh!!!!

So (forgive my abject ignorance here), exactly HOW does one add weight to the left side of one's car, and is that a good thing to do?

(My husband, who knows cars, needs to be here to help me out, but he's on the phone. :)

You're welcome, mystery! It sounded like the President was a little bit hoarse today when I heard a clip of his comments with the Prime Minister.

I hope he's just worn out from yesterday and not getting sick.........

Like W said in his Convention speech..........it's what in Texas, we call WALKING.

It's hard to believe that grown men who are in positions of power are upset by the way a man walks.

Yikes!

If that's all they've got...they are really pathetic. Stupid Reid has no clue that "swaggering" looks good to the women...and there are more women in this country than men! LOL!

Jeff Gordon's arch-nemesis meets the president!

Yeah, and Tony took one of his annual baths before his visit to the WH. During the season, the man gives new meaning to the grung look.

Actually, Tony's been wandering around lately tossing all sorts of respect to Jeff. Maybe it's because Jeff (one of the highest grossing sports figures on the planet) recently sold his big yacht because he bought a bigger one, and Tony wants an invite.

Maybe it's also because, since his divorce a few years ago, Jeff's been dating one gorgeous honey after another, while Tony spends his off time eating donuts. Maybe Tony wants to get in on a little of the action.

(You realize, of course, that I'm being facetious. Well, sort of.)

Stupid Reid has no clue about MOST things.

I can't believe that anyone would be worse in that job than Tom Daschle, but Reid is definitely in the running.......
