Maybe he's visiting Texas troops, but it seems like this would take a lot of unnesessary time and security.

The same can be said about many other trips.. I didn't hear people complaining about the time and security USO trips take.. Seems Governor Perry is much more important than Neil Mccoy or Pat Boone.
note: I fully support the USO..

Yeah, if that's such a huge issue for you, we should probably shut down the USO, right? After all, we have to provide expensive and "unnecessary" security for the celebrities who go out to support the troops. Surely we could save money by simply not entertaining the troops or boosting their morale.
