Don't be so sure. Google Millenium Challenge 2002, where a marine commander playing opfor in a PG WarGame laid waste to a US Carrier Battle Group using low rent equipment.

The Kilo is also a nasty little sub, diesel electric boats can be almost totally silent and will be a dangerous foe in littoral waters. Our Navy has been working on tracking and killing DE boats recently but it is not an easy thing to do.
