Florida's Bishop Lynch is a disgrace. I continue to believe he purposely did what he could to hasten Terri Schaivo's death because the other side in that case had something on him. Lynch is diabolical or he is being black-mailed or both.

Lynch is very corrupt. He was involved in both a gay sexual harrassment scandal and a financial scandal. Why that man has even been left in charge of a diocese is beyond me.

Lynch may be the worst bishop in the U.S., and that is no mean feat.

Alas, he's several years away from mandatory retirement age.

Florida's Bishop Lynch is a disgrace.

On what basis?

I continue to believe he purposely did what he could to hasten Terri Schaivo's death because the other side in that case had something on him. Lynch is diabolical or he is being black-mailed or both.

Engaging in supposition doesn't cut it.

From EWTN.
Michael Schiavo wed at Roman Catholic Parish
Question from Dennis on 1/23/2006:

Dear Fr. Gantley, Having just read that Michael Schiavo, co-conspirator along with the state of Florida and others in the murder of his wife Terri, was recently married at a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Fl. I was just wondering if there was anything canonically presented as an obstacle that could have, or should have perhaps prevented this from taking place as a sacrament with the full blessings of the Catholic Church. Am I seeing scandal where there is none? Thank you.

Answer by Rev. Mark J. Gantley, JCL on 1/24/2006:
I guess that I am not sufficiently up on current events, and I haven't heard or read about this.

However, I would point out a relevant canon: "Anyone who with a view to entering marriage with a certain person has brought about the death of that person's spouse or of one's own spouse invalidly attempts this marriage. Those who have brought about the death of a spouse by mutual physical or moral cooperation also invalidy attempt a marriage together" (canon 1090).

This impediment is known in canonical circles as crimen (or crime). If the conditions for this canon truly have been met, then the marriage is invalid.
