I'm a conservative, but I'm also a realist. We have a two party system in this country, and it's not gonna change any time soon. If you don't support the more conservative party then by doing nothing you are helping the liberals. By your standard, the Reagan Revolution would never have been started. This is a very long process that is starting to pay in spades, but you have to have the patience to understand the amount of time a realignment of a party takes. We are talking decades and not years.

Emphasis added. I agree with what you posted mr_hammer, but I feel I must give the GOP more time. After the debacle in PA with Toomey basically being blackballed, I was close to giving up on the GOP (and I still find their actions inexcusable there), but as conservativecorner said, we have a two party system in this country. That's reality. Voting for a third party may make you or I "feel good" at the ballot box for doing the "right thing", but feel good feelings won't get anything done.

I don't know where you're from, but in the country where I was born I was taught and do believe that the US Constitution was written in such a way that even a plain old citizen can understand its meaning.

Which makes one wonder why so many federal court cases are raised on constitutional grounds...

So you must be some kind of elitist who doesn't believe in the right of the sovereign citizen for self government.

Well, not sure I can pass muster on being labeled an elitist, but perhaps you can explain the right of the sovereign citizen for self government. Is that right contained within the BOR? Is is a self evident right? What does that actually mean?

No, none of these branches are helpless. But in fact the executive and legislative branches have been so corrupted that they are the vanguard for the destruction of individual rights in this country instead of the defenders of them.

Too broad a statement to even postulate an argument. But in any case, that is what the voting booth is designed to remedy.

There is recourse, but each day that recourse becomes more and more unattainable.

Why?

If the goal is the complete economic and social integration with foreign countries, we are far along that path with Mexico, without one debate in Congress about it or any consent from the American people.

That's a big if. Not sure whose goal that would be, nor of how it is to be effected.

So you just admitted you were wrong. That privilege does not extend to any unelected tribunal of foreign citizens.

In which case, the courts will strike down any such provision, again reflecting that our Constitution still remains the supreme law of the land, notwithstanding your concerns.

Equally disappointing is the bungling of communication that occurred during Katrina. I am not holding the Federal Government responsible for the suffering, but I am making the point that the more you grow the federal Government the less it will actually be able to accomplish.

I believe Mr_hammer's objection is to unconstitutional federal government growth during the Katrina disaster.

He has the conservative position on this by objecting to federal socialism.

You are very correct. People should not looked to the fed's with the exception of national defense. Infrastructure development such as roads, large bridges and airports would also be a place the fed's should be involved.

They should not be in the education business! That is a state issue.

This is my point, the more departments of "X" that develop the less the overall government can get actually accomplished with measurable results.

One other thing, that is why I said I don't hold the fed's accountable. That mess was a state issue and the leader's of LA blew it. They can ask for assistance from the fed's, but they themselves are in a nuch better position to actually know what there specific needs are.

I've been a Republican for years, and I was never issued a Membership Card. What gives? How do I get a Membership Card?

You usually get flooded with them after you send in a donation.
