I believe that is largely what is happening in Pakistan. Poor children are fed and clothed by extremist groups, who also teach them to hate non-Moslems. The next generation of Pakistan is scary indeed.

If the Christian community weren't a bunch of squirmy pacifists, we could have a call for a Crusade.

Time to start lobbying the Pope. This new one might just go for it.

undivided Jerusalem
I remember Ted Kennedy refusing to be nailed down on his position toward Israel during his 1980 primary run at Carter's incumbency. Instead of answering the question "how does your position differ from that of the administration?" he went on a tirade about not knowing what the administration's policy was, and one example was Rosalind Carter's stumping speech in which she referred to an undivided Jerusalem.

Barak, whom Sharon defeated, started advocating the Fence after his defeat, which suggests that it's a unifying policy by Israel. On the one hand I think it's a necessity, and definitely reduces border infiltrations. However, I also remember the 1973 war and the way the Bar-Lev line was overcome in a matter (literally) of minutes using high pressure water jets (thanks to a German firefighting equipment company), UDTs, pontoon bridges, and masses of infantry.

The Presbyterian Church USA is in trouble with me for this reason in particular. They will miss my tithing.

I remember those things, too. I wonder if the current fence incorporates architecture and materials based on lessons from the Yom Kippur war.

A few years ago we left the Democrat Presbyterian Church USA and became members of the conservative Wesleyan denomination. I never saw any Kerry bumper stickers there.
