Belafonte: Homeland Security the New Gestapo
NewsMax ^ | January 20, 2006 | Carl Limbacher

Entertainer Harry Belafonte, one of the Bush administration's harshest critics, compared the Homeland Security Department to the Nazi Gestapo on Saturday and attacked the president as a liar.

"We've come to this dark time in which the new Gestapo of Homeland Security lurks here, where citizens are having their rights suspended," Belafonte said in a speech to the annual meeting of the Arts Presenters Members Conference.

"You can be arrested and not charged. You can be arrested and have no right to counsel," said Belafonte.

Belafonte's remarks on Saturday — part of a 45-minute speech on the role of the arts in a politically changing world — were greeted with a roaring standing ovation from an audience which included singer Peter Yarrow of the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, and members of the arts community from several dozen countries.

This guy is like a Pile of frozen crap. It don't stink until suns begins to shine on it, then it thaws out and the smell becomes offensive.
I say don't even talk about this person anymore. After the light of Publicity dies out, then he will disappear back into the swamp from which he came.

"You can be arrested and not charged. You can be arrested and have no right to counsel," said Belafonte.

Communist Belafonte laments the fall of Soviet Russia and the ruthless KBG.

GSRINOK: Harry Belafonte the nutjob of the week

I honestly can't remember ever hearing this guy sing, but I assume that he has talent to be as famous as he is. The question I have is why should we care about his political opinions just because he can sing.

"Just how many "artists" does it take
to print "Che" T-shirts???"

I get so disgusted. I must be one of the few conservative artists (actually professional composer/ pianist) out there.

I argue with these type of knuckleheads all the time. It's unbelievable how much they absolutely refuse to see reality and the threat of radical Islam to the whole world.

"Belafonte: Homeland Security the New Gestapo"

Belafonte is a fool stumping antiAmericanism is South America. I find it VERY amusing that South America probably has more successive generations of ex-Nazis and Gestapo expatriates than there are living in Germany! To where did the Nazis hierarchy (SS & Gestapo) flee? Mexico, Central and South Americas. How many Alemans live in Mexico and South America? "Aleman" means German in Spanish.

Nazis in South America:
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com

Even as the Third Reich crumbled in the spring of 1945, Peron remained a pro-fascist stalwart, making available more than 1,000 blank passports for Nazi collaborators fleeing Europe.
With Europe in chaos and the Allies near victory, tens of thousands of ranking Nazis dropped out of sight, tried to mix in with common refugees and began plotting escapes from Europe to Argentina across clandestine "ratlines."
At the Argentine end of that voyage was Rodolfo Freude. He also was Juan Peron's private secretary, one of Evita's principal benefactors and the chief of Argentine internal security.
Freude's father, Ludwig, played another key role. As managing director of the Banco Aleman Transatlantico in Buenos Aires, he led the pro-Nazi German community in Argentina and acted as trustee for hundreds of millions of German Reichsmarks that the Fuehrer's top aides sent to Argentina near the war's end.
By 1946, the first wave of defeated fascists was settling into new Argentine homes. The country also was rife with rumors that the thankful Nazis had begun to repay Peron by bankrolling his campaign for the presidency, which he won with his stunning wife at his side.
In 1947, Peron was living in Argentina's presidential palace and was hearing pleas from thousands of other Nazis desperate to flee Europe. The stage was set for one of the most troubling boat-lifts in human history.
The archival records reveal that Eva Peron stepped forward to serve as Gen. Peron's personal emissary to this Nazi underground.

The real problem is that the MSM broadcasts this nut’s statements like he is actually someone whose opinion matters.

"Love it or leave it" comes to mind.

I prefer "just go away."

Sometimes loving it means pointing out what's wrong and trying to have it corrected. love it or leave it is a slogan for people unwilling to think for themselves.
