Maybe you are right, and maybe McCain will cement an early lead and never look back. At this point, who can stop him? The fact that polls say he is the only electable Republican could play in his favor.

Yes, conservatives won't rally behind McCain, but he can win without conservative support in the early stages. Only later would he need conservatives, who will of course soundly oppose his potential opponent, the popular HRC.
