I've seen articles about the speech posted, but not the speech itself.

I hope Repubicans are listening.

"Yet we now hear a loud chorus of Democrats who want us to cut- and-run in Iraq - with one radical position being an immediate stand down of U.S. troops in Iraq and withdrawal by the end of April.

It is important to understand the consequences of pulling out of Iraq before our work is done and victory is won. Abandoning our Iraqi friends would signal the world that America cannot be trusted to keep its word. We would undermine the morale of our military by betraying the cause for which they have sacrificed. The tyrants in the Middle East would laugh at our failed resolve, and tighten their repressive grip. We would hand Iraq over to enemies who have pledged to attack us again and again as they did on 9/11. And the global terrorist movement would be emboldened and more dangerous than ever. To retreat before victory has been won would be a reckless act - and this President will not allow it.

This is an issue worthy of a public debate. "

-- snip --

"For decades, Democrats were setting the agenda, the pace of change, and the visionary goals. Republicans were simply reacting to them. But times change - and this President and today's Republican Party are shaping history, not trying to stop it. Together we are articulating a compelling vision of a better world.

We need to learn from our successes - and from the failures of others. As the governing party in America, Republicans cannot grow tired or timid. We have been given the opportunity to govern; we have to continue to show we deserve the trust of our fellow Americans. "

Rove IS brilliant.

But Republicans need to listen to him, take a cue from him, and keep making and amplifying on those points.

The Republicans frequently are too "timid" to take on the Dems point by point and tell the American people what a Dem administration would mean to the War on Terror and our safety and security.

"Because of a New York Times story, our enemies now know that in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to intercept communications where one of the parties is outside the United States and there is a reasonable basis to conclude the conversation involves a member of, or someone affiliated with, al Qaeda.

The purpose of the NSA surveillance is to protect American lives - and the President's actions are both legal and fully consistent with the Fourth Amendment and the protection of civil liberties. "

AND it should be mentioned that the NYT published this, after President Bush PERSONALLY appealed to them and explained that damage it will cause to our safety and national security. The NYT went ahead and published it, with the full knowledge of the damage to our security it will cause. They should be tried for treason.

The only part of the speech I disagree with:

"Our opponents are our fellow citizens, not our enemies."

The DUmocrat leaders are the enemy and Osama has become their spokesman on the War On Terror and Al-Queda is acting as their army on the field. The LIEberals would gladly hand over the sovereignty to the enemy, which is why DUmocrats can count themselves among them.

AND I agree with you. The Dems are indeed our enemies and the enemies of the US, because their actions endanger us and encourages the terrorists.

The last 2 elections for president were too close for comfort. What's the game plan to win in 2008?

As I was awaiting the C-Spin replay of the Rove speech with my recorder ready to go, I caught the tail end of some NYT/Lawyers convention (recorded on January 13th) where they were patting themselves on the back for releasing classified info (Pentagon Papers?) during vietnam war.

Claiming that if they are prosecuted now, it's like the end of the world for them. One old fool was encouraging the lawyers to get involved to "stop the Bush administration's" destruction of the 1st amendment.

Traitors one and all.

The demomrats are domestic enemies of both the nation and the Constitution. These traitor's giving aid and comfort to our foreign enemies is a traitorous act. I'd have them slapped in irons and facing trial for collaborating with the enemy and sabotaging the war effort.

Stolen Valor Act of 2005 (Introduced in House)
HR 3352 IH

109th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 3352

To amend title 18, United States Code, with respect to protections for the Medal of Honor, and for other purposes.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

July 19, 2005

Mr. SALAZAR introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

A BILL

To amend title 18, United States Code, with respect to protections for the Medal of Honor, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Stolen Valor Act of 2005'.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

Congress finds that--

(1) fraudulent claims surrounding receipt of the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished-Service Cross, the Air Force Cross, the Navy Cross, the Purple Heart, or any other medal or decoration awarded by Congress or the armed forces damage the reputation and meaning of these medals;

(2) Federal law enforcement officers are currently limited in their ability to prosecute fraudulent claims of receipt of military medals; and

(3) changes to the current statute are necessary to allow law enforcement personnel to protect the reputation and meaning of these medals.

SEC. 3. MILITARY MEDAL PROTECTIONS.

Section 704 of title 18, United States Code, is amended--

(1) in subsection (a)--

(A) by inserting `purchases, attempts to purchase, solicits for purchase, mails, ships, imports, exports, produces blank certificates of receipt,' after `wears'; and

(B) by inserting `attempts to sell, advertises for sale, trades, barters or exchanges for anything of value' after `sells';

(2) in subsection (b)(1), by inserting `or (b)' after `subsection (a)'

(3) by redesignating subsection (b) as subsection (c);

(4) by inserting after subsection (a) the following:

`(b) False Claims About Receipt of Military Medals- Whoever falsely represents himself or herself, verbally or in writing, to have been awarded any decoration or medal authorized by Congress for the armed forces of the United States, or any of the service medals or badges awarded to the members of such forces, or the ribbon, button, or rosette of any such badge, decoration or medal, or any colorable imitation thereof shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.'; and

(5) by adding at the end the following:

`(d) Other Medals- If a decoration or medal involved in an offense under subsection (a) or (b) is a Distinguished Service Cross awarded under Section 3742 of title 10, an Air Force Cross awarded under section 8742 of section 10, a Navy cross awarded under section 6242 of title 10, a silver star awarded under section 3746, 6244, or 8746 of title 10, or a Purple Heart awarded under section 1129 of title 10, or any replacement or duplicate medal as authorized by statute, in lieu of the punishment provided in that subsection, the offender shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.'.

"From Ray Funderburk, MOPH

The greatest threat to the sanctity and significance of the Purple Heart comes from the medal's easy availability. Anyone can buy one at flea markets, pawnshops or on the Internet, where Web sites offer the decoration, no questions asked, for as little as $35. An accompanying certificate on onion skin parchment and personalized with your name and any rank you choose costs about $25.

Such commerce in the symbols of American courage and sacrifice would be outlawed by a measure spearheaded last July by Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo.

His "Stolen Valor Act" would make it a federal crime to falsely wear the Purple Heart and other top military decorations, or to even list them on a resume if they were not officially earned.

But the proposed bill now sits in the House Judiciary Committee, and its fate remains unclear.
"We're waiting for the committee to act," said Salazar

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1560750/posts?page=2#2

Any Republican or Democrat politicians who don't get this bill passed is
as guilty as the phonies that this bill targets.

The Swift Boat Vets already proved, beyond a doubt,
that hanoi kerry's 1st Purple Heart is fraudulent.

A US Attorney General can get ALL of hanoi kerry's
records and once and for all prove that the
Swift Boat Vets were accurate and true.

All that has to be done is to get this bill passed and signed into law now, before the '06 election.

Since hanoi kerry will be under indictment he'll
have to sit out the '06 election for his illegal seat
in the US Senate.

AND the best part is that it is a Democrat sponsored
bill that will his downfall.

More importantly, we have seen the rise of a great cause. Three Republican Presidents and Republican Congressional majorities have achieved a tremendous amount in two-and-a-half decades.

Bullsh!t!!

For those who "forgot" what Hanoi Kerry
did in the past read on and learn the truth.

Hanoi Kerry was still a USNR officer while he:
gave false hearsay testimony to Congress
negotiated with the enemy
helped the US lose a war
abetted in the deaths of millions
created a hostile environment for all servicemen

The FBI has proof of his giving aid and comfort to the enemies

Hanoi Kerry Timeline of a traitor
includes FBI files

May 1970
Kerry and Julia traveled to Paris, France and met with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh, the Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam (PRG), the political wing of the Vietcong, and other Viet Cong and Communist Vietnamese representatives to the Paris peace talks, a trip he now calls a "fact-finding" mission.

(U.S. code 18 U.S.C. 953, declares it illegal for a U.S. citizen to go abroad and negotiate with a foreign power.)

I don't know if the NYT is being investigated or not, but they should be shut down. They have been allowed time and time again to print outright lies, publish classified info and are very proud of that!

They had a bunch of old has-been NYT hacks on C-span patting themselves on the back for printing classified info from the Pentagon Papers during the Vietnam War. They also encouraged others to "take the risk" and for lawyers to get involved to protect them.
