This goes well with this thread;

What plagued light rail?

A hungry rat Gnawed cable was responsible for power failure

Typically, when Mother Nature upsets daily schedules or wreaks havoc, she arrives in the form of a major storm.

But it was one of her smaller creatures that brought Metro's two-year-old light rail system to a standstill earlier this week.

"A rat chewed the cable," David Feeley, Metropolitan Transit Authority's vice president of operations, told the agency's board Thursday.

Not really - if he hits the bridges where there will be tons of people walking plus all the traffic - That would be a horror in itself.

Good! I hope this speeds the downfall of all unions.

There should be firings. That'll settle their hash. Start training new employees tomorrow morning.

"Of the 22,451 votes cast, Eyewitness News is told that there were 11,227 yes votes, and 11,234 no votes. "

Cool. Retain all the yes voters and fire the rest, then have the ones you kept train new employees to make up the difference. There it is.

I took my fiance to see the Rockettes' Christmas Show on the 20th of December...first day of the strike.
It was a nightmare. We had the tickets (good ones) almost a month before, so we weren't going to throw them away.

We left from her house (she lives in Freehold, NJ) and had to take a Ferry because we were afraid of how Penn Station would be. Sharing taxis, etc. It was nuts!

Even in a best case scenario, I wouldn't visit NYC. Why anyone in their right mind would want to live there is beyond me. A 150K+ town in the Texas Panhandle (boring or not!) suits me just fine. No offense intended to anyone stuck in the northeast! And Hillary Clinton/Chuck Schumer as Senators representing me...give me a break!!

It looks like a dive. It sounds like a dive. It has the best cheap burger in NYC. Used to be hundreds of places like Mchale's, now there's only a couple. Might see some celebs from broadway eating a greasy burger and a beer or rabid sports fans with painted faces. That kind of place.

A contract rejection doesn't mean there will be another strike. It means that there will be binding arbitration on the contract under New York law. And even if another strike were put to a vote, you're assuming all who voted no would vote to strike. There's no evidence that would be so. Remember - about 10,000 union members DIDN'T vote on the contract at all.

...in that case, the Rainbow Grill at the top of Rock Center. A little pricey, but you can walk it from the Milford.
