I always sense warmth between him and the Vice President. I always remember the interview after the "incident" on the Senate Floor during the photo session when the VP swore at Leahey for being out of line and questioning the VP's integrity and then trying to be best buddy.

He allowed the VP to admit the exchange and confirm what he said without having to actually say I swore at Leahey, it was a very clever interview and left no one in any doubt as to what had happened and that the only reason we knew about it was that Leahey had squealed.
