From Indy Star website:
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Filmmaker Spike Lee urged blacks not to support Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice if she seeks the Republican presidential nomination.
Lee, director of "Malcolm X," "Jungle Fever" and "Do the Right Thing," spoke Wednesday on the Purdue University campus. He said everyone should register to vote -- and cast their ballots. And he urged blacks to look beyond race if Rice runs for president in 2008. During his speech, Lee told students they should use education to find their passion in life and then pursue it. He said that his family was an important factor in his success, with his grandmother, who is now 99 years old, helping put him through school by saving money from teaching and her Social Security checks. Lee said that when he entered the film business it was a time when black directors and actors remained a novelty. "When a black film came out, it was a national holiday," he said.
A racist and a bigot!
Spike Lee: Blacks should not support Lincoln, should remain slaves.
Is Spike Lee black?
More like chocolate.
Ang Lee's brother
Hey spike.
She is a republician.
They aint gonna support her anyway.
Idiot.
Spike Lee's barnyard racism continues...
This is the very same racist that said that he sees "daggers" when he sees a black man kissing a white woman.
He's just jealous because Condi is at least one foot taller than him!
Don't you just love it when a hollywood nobody comes out and makes such an assinine statement?
That's like me listening to a white person who would say whites shouldn't back George Bush or Cheney etc. That would mean I am allowing THEM to THINK for me. No way. No How.
Wake up America. THINK FOR YOURSELVES!!!!!
Why because Condi has a brain and Spike has air.
The republicans were helping Condi's father to vote at a time when democrats were keeping him from voting.
I am ashamed to claim him as belonging to my race, even though at times if you have too many wine coolers he does not resemble a human being, butt ugly, diminitive in size and smelly; he has to be the worst FILM DIRECTOR in N.America
If Spike Lee really championed the rights of minorities, he wouldn't be able to jump on Condi's bandwagon quickly enough. It would be hard to find a smaller minority than black GOP women.
Lets face facts. For the first time in the history of black America (if such a thing did exist)...you have a black female ready to tell black males to get up and get moving. I've seen alot of leadership on football fields, basketball courts, and baseball diamonds...but in terms of real authority and leadership in life...there are very few true-blue black male role models. Ms. Rice is an absolute role-model, and she is prepared to tell black males to stand up and stop the stupid acting job...get real...get educated...and support your family. This Spike Lee or Jess Jackson naive view of themselves and what they ought to be doing...makes a joke out of real life.
The American standard is awful simple...you make your own life and do what you have to do to get ahead. Its what the Dutch brough into New England in the 1600s, and the standard they blessed upon Manhattan over 300 years ago. There were no royal types in the original Dutch colony. Their whole promise of the new world...was that you could be whatever you wanted...but you had to work for it. Ms. Rice has proven that a thousand times over. There are no stains on her career...no corruption episodes...no tax evasion situations. She is exactly what you see...hard work and good living.
Mr. Lee has to worry. If Ms. Rice stands up to run...she isn't going to let blacks sit there and intimidate her into acting like a loser. Its not her style...its not her grace...and its not her, period. An administration of Ms. Rice...would mean the absolute end of Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow crew. It means no more complaints on national TV by the lightly dim crowd. She will shadow anyone's accusations with hard logic and reality. For the democrats...she would carve out a huge sector of Americana for years to come...and likely trip up any Senate races in 2008 or 2010.
Michael Moore, Soros, et al.
That's ok. Your comment made me think that it's hitlery's thighs that could be called plantations. They're big enough.
