I'll say it again....in a post Soviet...post Communist world...the nations of the former USSR especially Ukraine and Russia need to work together...cooperation is key.
Naivete, and ancient misplaced hatreds will not help in solving economic and social and political problems. Together you guys can fight terrorism and fight secularism...and the distinctly dangerous path of Yushchenko, Tymoshenko, and their socialist sponsor: Soros.
So with tens of thousands of observers crawling across the country, they couldn't spare a few to go with Get Out the Vote groups? BS and you know it.
Problem is, the only ancient misplaced hatred is amongst the Catholic western Ukrainians who are barely Ukrainian anyways, having been forcably mixed with Polish settlers and Austro-Hungarians for hundreds of years. Central, southern and eastern Ukrainians have no such hatreds.
Really? So Tymoshenko slamming Yushchi in the media and making him look like an out of touch fool is all part of a political plan by Yushchi? Even Carvel couldn't pull that off, not that he's probably not in Kiev right now helping.

Absolutely right.
Observers did go and they made their reports- and they weren't favorable. Yanukovych wanted a ridiculous amount of home voters- something like 5 or 1 million (can't remember which). Put it into perspective- with Ukrainian population around 50 mill, this means 1 on 10 is an invalid. Also, what would this additional home vote mean if the voter turnout percentage was already high?
Really? So Tymoshenko slamming Yushchi in the media
Wait a minute- you said Yuschenko lost half of his party, which dope told you Tymoshenko is in his party? Yuschenko's "Nasha Ukrayina" continues to have the same 50 or so seats.
Ukraine has an aging population, is it that hard to believe that 10% are old and infirm, especially considering that Ukraine has a crappy public health system AND the buildings, as you well know, are not equiped for invalids so it is very hard for the old to leave their homes and get back in.
Try 15%:
Age structure:
0-14 years: 15.6% (male 3,783,725/female 3,619,754)
15-64 years: 68.8% (male 15,619,989/female 16,992,628)
65 years and over: 15.6% (male 2,497,851/female 4,911,389) (2005 est.)
From cia.gov
Yes, you keep telling that yourself, but next time non-Galician Ukrainians spit in Russian eyes, like Shevchenko, Petliura, Chornovil and many others did, don't develop a sudden case of retardation and say that Galicians did it.
Dream your little Unianite Western Ukrainian dreams....that's about as far as they'll ever get.
The way Yushchenko is deporting anyone who is pro Russia Ukraine may be all galacians soon.
I'll give one example. Jeremi Wiszniowecki. He tried to deal with a Ukrainian rebellion by slaughtering countless innocent ukrainian villagers, even impaling women on stakes. According to Encyclopedia of Ukraine, published by University of Toronto, Wiznoviecki's "campaign" in Volhynia was marked by "unprecedented cruelty"
Actually, what I think he meant was that anti-Russian bigotry (and I mean hating the rank-and-file RUssian people) is non-existent among non-Galicians. Anti-Russian bigotry is just a distinct minority among Galicians...and the majority of non-Galicians are just as committed to Ukranian independence.
