Of course Russia thinks (probably correctly) that they could profit greatly from seeing Israel demonstrate its "never again" policy with Iran.
The price of oil and the demand for its weapons would skyrocket in such a scenario.

Not trying to justify Putin here, but the EU started the ball rolling on the Kyoto Agreement. The EU does things that, even as an American, are sucky.
The EU couldn't even get Europe to agree to agree.
It must be on how they word it, "screw everyone but us"? If Putin is disPUTINg it, perhaps the EU is asking Russia do, er, "extra duty" or something NOT in Russia's best interests. Putin WILL do whatever is in Russia's best interests, as he should. After all, he doesn't work for the EU, but for the people of Russia.
Just a thought.

"meeting of the U.N."
Whenever I think of the UN I visualize that large body of politicans in Star Wars and how they did nothing -- yet lived in the lap of luxury in and among themselves.

Well no duh. He's pissed about the Color Revolutions, and Iran is the new way to stick it to us. During the Cold War Kruschev said that Berlin was "the testicles of the West. When I want the West to scream, I squeeze on Berlin." Same thing: the West doesn't want Iran to get nukes - so Putin will do everything he can to make sure Iran does.

Russia has suffered their own terrorist attacks, it would seem to me risky for them to tolerate a nuclear Iran.
