Funny, but I don't remember any huge plantations or haciendas being part of our cityscape, or ornate, antebellum mansions overlooking the BQE or Belt Pkway, or even many indebted sharecroppers taking the IRT.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the people who commute into Manhattan from the outer boroughs aren't going to be tilling the soil, or picking cash crops when they arrive at work, right?

No, you're not the only one. I've been scratching my head for two days now trying to figure out how the House of Representatives could be run like a plantation. It makes no sense to me. I guess I'm too literal.
And I haven't had enough of the liberal kool-aid.

In a literal sense you're correct - there is no plantation or anything like it. In a broader sense there's really no mystery what the smartest woman in the world was up to.
