Morris insisted on the use of exit polls as a means of potentially exposing ballot tampering. He argues this played a significant role in forcing the incumbent to acquiesce to a new poll when the official results of the first varied materially from the exit surveys.

He is parroting talking points and doesn't have many so that forces him to keep repeating himself.

Morris is doing what left media folks do. He is trying to effect change by making up evidence for what he wants to happen. It is like an ABC poll with zogby's special sauce.
The best counter was the one by Hastert about having never run a plantation but he should have also mentioned that Hillary had told her audience they knew how plantations were run. Possibly someone in that audience was a plantation manager but I seriously doubt it. Democrats know that most blacks are drawn to their party like bugs to a blacklight and race-baiting does not offend them.

Talk of the 2008 elections seems premature given the 2006 elections looming in front of us. IMHO we ought to focus on making congress more conservative.
That's the real meaning as I see it. For the smartest woman in the world, she says a lot of really dumb things (remember "vast right-wing conspiracy"). Meaning, she's really not particularly smart. If she goes for POTUS, she'll get creamed. She has niether the temperment, nor the discernment to function outside a tightly scripted show. No wonder the dems are nervous about her.
Yes, and No. I don't doubt for a minute that many Blacks heard this statement and quietly nodded their agreement, even though it makes no sense at all. Huge numbers of Black Americans live in a different reality than the rest of the nation.
I had a conversation with an elderly Black woman recently in which she referenced the Black "victims" of NOLA and said of President Bush, "They should assassinate him." I opined that maybe that reaction was a mite strong, but she said, "Well, they killed Kennedy didn't they? Good for the goose, good for the gander." She was totally serious.
Dick has been pushing Condi for awhile, his analysis on that angle is a wash. He sees everything through thr prism of Condi, there is no objectivity.
The statement Hillary fears a Sharpton run in the primaries is absurd, at least if he hints Sharpton is a strong contender. IF he refers to influence aamong the black community, a fear that Sharpton may tell folks not to vote for her (because Sharpton doesn't have a chance himself)...well, maybe, but I don't know if Al has that type of influence on the majority of the black population these days.

Hillary made that statement because she's losing her hardcore Liberal base that do not long for the Clinton triangulation model. Not because of Condi.
There *may* be something to laura's comments, but it may be as simple as making Hillary jumpy. As well making certain RINO's jumpy, like, maybe this won't be the last time they have to deal with Bush, or someone close to Bush, so perhaps they might pull back and hedge their bets rather then making an enemy in the W.H. Morris automatically jumps to she IS running. He may be right there is a motive to the comments, but there is more than promoting Condi as a possible explanation. Morris never considers the alternatives. That's what makes his analysis shaky at best.
