Freeper TomServo is in the hospital because of a staph infection near his spine. The doctors are hoping to avoid surgery but he will be in the hospital for an unknown number of days. Once he returns home he will have to be on IV antibotics for another week.
This is very serious, please pray for our friend and one of my favorite freepers.
This is posted with permission from his wife.
Prayers up for Tom.
Okay, you tell me and the docs what the reason was?
What part of "spontaneous" don't you understand?
The reason it happened is, because it happened.
God knows and he ain't talking. :)

Prayers continuing for TomServo, been checking back for any updates.
I wouldn't wish this pain or misery on my worst enemy. It was simply the most agonizing thing I've every gone thru. The pain was indescribable.
Here's a very condensed version of events.. After visiting one hospital, I was told that I may just have to take pain pills and "let it run it's course". And I had already been going thru this for approx 4 days. 2 days later, still no relief from the pain, I can't walk, my wife calls the ambulance and had me taken to another hospital. Rather than saying I may have to live with it for now, I was admitted. I think when my temp spiked to 105, they decided I might be in some trouble.
Later on that day they ran an MRI on me and found the problem. An abscess near my spine about the size of a quarter. The neurosurgeon came in the next day and determined that antibiotics should clear up the problem. After about 5 more days of antibiotics, morphine and whatever else they were pumping into me, my fever was bouncing up and down and the pain had only abated slightly. My wife then demanded another MRI which found that not only had the abscess subsided, it had grown considerably. I then told the neurosurgeon that it was time to quit screwin' around and lets get rid of it. The neurosurgeon was ahead of me and I was on the table within about an hour or so.
After 5 more days I was finally released this past Friday. And for the first time, I'm actually able to sit down and write this note to ya'll...
Still some pain but nothing like before and I've got 19 staples in my back. And I've got 8 weeks of IV's admininistered to 2 catheters coming out of my left arm (I like to think of them as my own little external ports ;-)), but I'm dang glad to be here.
Again - I can't thank ya'll enough for your prayers. While it's nice to be under the care of really top-notch physicians and nurses, it's always prayers to the Greatest Physician and Healer that pulls it together.
Will catch ya'll later...my back is starting to act up a bit and my wife wants me to relax a bit. Thanks again for the best FRiends a person could ever ask for.
'Servo...
P.S. As a jab to the lefties, I'd like to add:
I hope ya'll made a buttload of money...you deserve it!! ;-)
LOL!
GOOD to see you, Tom!
