I don't have any Beefheart CDs. Probably should dig some up via Amazon.

Same happened to me in the old Sandstone Ampitheater in KC in 95. I was on the NINTH row and I already had some hereditary hearing loss started. I thought for a few days I was going to be in hearing-aid central for the rest of my life.

The "guitar solo" on "Cheepnis?"
Frank has a hundred better solos...start with "St. Etienne" from Jazz From Hell and work backwards.

That's too bad about Cub Coda. I don't know their music, except for that one song, that I'm aware of.I'll dig a little deeper.Same with pat Travers. It's amazing how some have the passion to keep doing it after decades, especially those who aren't the "legends". Maybe that helps, you didn't really hit the highest heights,so there wasn't any painful long fall, and you could keep it in perspective and keep doing it because you never forgot why you do it-because you love it. No burn out,or something.I hope Yes doesn't stop touring,I've never gotten to see them yet.

Barry McGuire - Eve of Destruction
OK it was a protest song but it was done quite well. When asked who his favorite guitarist is, Jimmy Hendrix said Barry McGuire. I may just agree.

Beefheart isn't on the Fisher record.

And while maybe not in the top 10 of all time, no Alex Lifeson? You don't have to be a Rush fan to recognize the technical skills of all three band members.

Thank you for the playlist. I wondered what the names of some of the songs were. But the CD lists 17 songs and your playlist only lists 16 songs. Check it out for yourself; put the CD in and it lists 17 songs.

Here's the discrepancy in the play list.
10 Good Golly Miss Molly
11 Green Onions
12 Also Green Onions
13 Hey Joe
14 Purple Haze
15 Messiah
16 Sunshine of Your Love
17 Drowning On Dry Land
Just a little discrepancy on the Green Onions song, it holds two places on the CD.

Thats because the cassette has a "tape flip" during the "Green Onions" ...
I actually had that song listed as -
11) Help Me > Drums >
12) Bass Solo > Help Me
I was surprised that it is "Green Onions", I thought it was the song "Help Me" that Van Morrison does....
I didn't know too many of the Instrumentals on the rest of the tape, since its "new" to me.

I didn't explain---
when I am transferring a cassette to cd-r,
If you push the pause button on the recorder,to allow the flip on the tape-
when you hit record again, it jumps to the next number
So you will get 2 track listings for " one " song.

It is pretty slick that you can transfer a cassette to a CD. I can't do that. Don't have the equipment.

I have a Nakamichi BX 300 cassette deck, a truly high end deck and I have a Panasonic PDR-04 home recorder.
I am just learning how to record cds on the computer....
The home recorder records in real time, not a high speed recorder.
When I transfer a cassette , I have to manually track the songs....its a pain in the ass. But , it also makes you really listen to the tapes....
I have fun doing it.
To record cds, you just hit one button, but it is in real time. The computer does it in high speed. I'm not sure if you lose any quality or not. I will tell you that the mp3 files are not as good as a real cd...no way.I can hear the difference with the compressed files.
I'm in the market for a pair of high end headphones.I'm either gonna get the Sennheiser HD 650 or Grado RS2. Both retail for $ 500.Its a tough choice.

Barry McGuire - Eve of DestructionAnimals - Sky Pilot
Animals - House Of The Rising Sun (Frijid Pink does a nice version of this song too)
Although I notice Jimi Hendrix is on the list, I prefer "If 6 Were 9" or "The Wind Cried Mary"
