"Some men cheat on their partners. So do some women. Now researchers say it is more than a wandering eye that might cause a woman to stray."
This conclusion was based on two studies of college men and women using questionnaires where the test group was asked how they felt (how scientific) about other men/women outside of their steady relationships.
There is a University study that suggests an evolutionary tendency toward infidelity during ovulation, which is the most fertile part of the menstrual cycle ( read the article ).
Among the conclusions are :
"Along those evolutionary lines, men more than women desire a variety of sexual partners because genes carrying that trait were passed along in men"
The one thing the article didnt make clear is whether they actually analyzed genes responsibleif only indirectlyfor men more than women desir[ing] a variety of sexual partners or if theyre just extrapolating an evolutionary reason for human behavior.
Is this the Selfish Gene ( see Dawkin's book ) in action ?

I think this is another example of the libs trying to discredit the traditional family. If the family is destroyed (and they are well along the path there) it can be replaced with government.
Forget this "instinctict" rationalizations. We are not animals who follow every instinct to urinate, crap and copulate wherever and whenever the urge strikes us. We are more advanced then that.
Well, some of us are, anyway.

This conclusion was based on two studies of college men and womenOh yea, there's a great source for opinions on meaningful relationships. I'll make serious note of this study.

You will not be able to defy your instinct to urinate, at least for long ["more advanced than that"?]. Hopefully, you'll be able to hold long enough to get to a nearby sanitary facility, and there'd be no queue there.

Perhaps others do not exercise such restraint, instead following only the instinct wherever and whenever it strikes them.

"Along those evolutionary lines, men more than women desire a variety of sexual partners because genes carrying that trait were passed along in men" So if I get it on with the widow next door, this will get me off the hook? Sort of like "the devil made me do it" defense.

"We are not animals who follow every instinct to urinate, crap and copulate wherever and whenever the urge strikes us. We are more advanced then that." I see you don't get out much

I see you don't get out much Sorry, I see that was very presumptuous of me.
Please know I can only speak for myself with regards to this matter.

"With me the horrid doubt always arises, whether the convictions of man's mind, which has been developed from the mind of lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy."-Darwin (quotes from D. Lack "Swifts in a Tower").
Question: So why would a Darwinist Absolutist care if he cheated? Is *guilt* esoteric or universal? Like ethics, how does it work in to the theory as being a greater good for the species even though an abstract?
To: Eagles Talon IV
"I see you don't get out much"
Well, some urges are more urgent than others. And thus the ability to resist them is, in some cases at least, pretty limited - regardless of how much one is, or is not, getting out.

Does this mean that you don't have the selfish-gene within you ? How does this make your kind the fittest to survive ?( question asked tongue in cheek :)

Does this mean that you don't have the selfish-gene within you ? How does this make your kind the fittest to survive? Wll, after a visit to my doc last year I'm out of the gene pool now.

Yes of course, not to mention the psychoimplications of an indeterminable prime face case of extrapolated convoluted way back therapy combined with attenuated levels of primal scream sessions.
To: Eagles Talon IV
Primal screams would be naturally emanating from one having a serious stomachache urge. No therapy [beyond getting relieved] or special sessions needed.

"Primal screams would be naturally emanating from one having a serious stomachache urge. No therapy [beyond getting relieved] or special sessions needed." Geez, couldn't the whole problem be solved if the people would take a leak, a dump and maybe jack themselves off before they went out?
Urges gone, problem solved.

One could still get a sudden onset of an indigestion. [..It]happens, not all the time, true, but frequently enough.

Indigestion causes one to defecate, urinate and fornicate? I think you're reaching a bit here.
To: Eagles Talon IV
Indigestion for defecators, incontinence for urinators, and... mother nature, what else?.. for fornicators. To each one's own.
