Whackos gone Wild
Sounds like a good title for a grass roots growing movie!
I feel this "wife crying" will be a good reply to the libs adds this fall.
What could Specter do...aren't these the rules? They had a gentlemen's agreement. Don't know if it's possible but this should have been voted on in the committee cause gentlemen's agreements with the rat party can't be trusted. I personally think we need to still have duels, I know a few republican senators who'd call out a few of those dirty rats.
I agree. The problem is Senate Republicans will shrink back from playing that kind of hardball.
The are softball players.
I feel this "wife crying" will be a good reply to the libs adds this fall.
No, I've never seen that movie - but I agree these old codgers in the Senate need to go. We need some fresh blood and some democrats who are not anti-American.
"Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, blasted the Democrats' move as "unjustified and desperate partisan obstructionism"."
Okay, Frist. Time to stop thinking up clever categories for their bad behavior. Put an end to their ability to be, "Partisan Obstructionists." You're the majority leader, so LEAD.
This is just the follow through of the rude questioning and spoiled brat behavior exhibited this week by the Senate Democrats.
41 for the fillibuster, they could hold that - if they knew the republicans weren't going to hold 50 for the nuclear option, the Dems could hold all of theirs except for Nelson, maybe 1 other. if they saw that the Rs could not hold 50 for the rules change, the Dems would rally around that and hold 41, I am sure of it.
I have a hard time believing that Nelson would be the only one to vote for Alito. Joe Lieberman has got to as well.
There are probably others who would face immense heat if the Reps did an ad involving the wife crying...that would run into serious trouble over re-election.
I don't really know who is up for re-election this year, but there have to be some who'd be in trouble.
I am not talking about the confirmation vote, I am talking about the votes to sustain a filibuster. the Dems need 41 for that. if the Dems need his vote, Lieberman will vote with his party to filibuster, to sustain the rules power of the minority in the senate.
Who are the Dems in the Gang of 14, the Reps too.
The only way a filibuster will come is if the four of the Gang of 14 Dems say "extraodinary circumstances", which I don't see happening right now.
Come Tuesday who knows.
One would think if those four break, at least three of the seven Reps break the other way, and we have our 51 to go "constitutional". In fact, only two...and VP Cheney cast the break out vote for the "c" option.
Math
45 Dems less 7 of Gang means 38. Three or four to filibuster.
55 Reps less 7 of Gang means 48. Two or three to go "c"
it depends on how effective the Dems are this week at "reaching out" to get the votes they need. if someone tosses a stack of photos in front of a senator in some comprimising position, and moves their vote because of it, the calculation changes accordingly. and as your numbers show, they only need to move a very small number of votes here.
Morning CA,
We need to send some working class people up to the big house.
We would get something done post haste. The best interests for America, would be the main objective then.
The Ivory House boys&girls just love givng our tax dollars to these third world countries and the public assistance welfare career professionals(criminals).
Oh it makes them feel sooooooo gooood, well what about US!!
It's Time For A Change,
NSNR-THM
Good Morning Mrs. DRS,
He will not because it might offend the demo-commies.
Leadership: the abilty to gain the loyal and willing cooperation of you peers or subordinates to accomplish any assigned task.(Military)
The abilty to get things done, by and through others.
(Civilian)
Frist is weak and incapable of providing good sound leadership in any position, much less the Senate.
Send in a Pit Bull, who will take names and kick dems&rinos butt(s)
Lead From The Front,
NSNR-THM
And a good morning to you, Mr. NSNR...
Thanks for the info. as I was unaware of this. What a shame they are all so concerned with offending each other. Someone needs to tell them, it is not their job to be afraid of such things. Is there anyone in the Senate who is not, afraid of their own shadow?
Well .. we actually have a bunch of really good people there. We just need to become more active in calling and emailing out desires. They are in a bubble and they need to get out more and travel to their home districts and see how real people live - instead of taking paid vacations from some lobbyist with an agenda.
But the key is US - we have to become more involved. If we sit back and say "it's the same old same old" then we are part of the problem.
A key thing I have discovered - CALL YOUR REPS LOCAL OFFICE. Don't call the DC office - call their local office and make your concerns known. Be civilized; firm; determined; don't use profanity; don't yell (unless necessary).
I call Boxer's local San Diego office all the time and the thing I say the most is .. "when is this woman going to stop embarrassing America and California". Has anybody noticed that she's been rather quiet lately.
The DC people don't think we're paying attention, but if their local offices start calling DC and reporting what we're saying .. things do change.
I have form emails - and I send them out regularly - just to remind my reps that I'm paying attention and I'm not going away.
Hey CA,
Thanks for the post and your suggestion has been properly noted.
Please remember the following, " The Instructive Tongue Is Voiceless, When The Attentive Ear Refuses To Listen."
So Mote It Be,
NSNR-THM
Ahhh! but the "instructive tongue" gets the last laugh - when it VOTES!!
