"THE worlds most technologically advanced exploration ship sails today on a mission that may reveal the origin of life on Earth.
The Japanese ship Chikyu intends to drill seven kilometres (4.3 miles) below the sea bed more than three times deeper than has been done before. It will then raise to the surface a cylinder 1.5m (5ft) long and 15cm wide which could contain sciences first glimpse of a living sample of the Earths mantle."
----------
"The theory behind the life sciences side of the research is that life may have originated beneath the Earths crust at temperatures and pressures unknown on land or sea. The energy that provoked the first semblance of life may also have been geothermal rather than solar."
----------
"The mission of discovery is not restricted to biology. Physical samples of the mantle are also expected to deliver a rich trove of seismological, volcanic, geological, environmental and climatological information. The reason the Japanese project offers the prospect of such important scientific discoveries is not depth alone."

Which looks like something I posted at some time, but is outside of this discussion, and was not posted by me here. If you want to disrupt a thread, go somewhere else.
It'll be interesting to see what they bring up.
Not the deepest.
The soviets drilled to over 12 kilometers (SG-3) on the Kola Peninsula working from 1970 to 1989.
Was that drilling under the sea? I have to admit I am not very familiar with deep Earth drilling and posted this because it looked interesting.
With a sutitable travelling companion, no doubt: Barbie's sister, Arlene.
Did God create the "grass, and herb yielding seed and .. fruit" before or after he created the "greater light" to rule the day and the "lesser light" to rule the night? (Genesis 1: 11 and 16)
And if so, how did the grass and fruit trees survive those two days with no sun?
As a serious, devout Christian, that is something I always wondered.
My point is that I would never presume to have all the answers as to how, when, and how long God took to create the earth and all the life there-in.
Suffice it to say that God uses many metaphors in the Bible, and I am not so presumptive as to insist I know which ones are literal and which ones are allegorical.
Well, good try but, since you misrepresented their experiment and purpose, you get no cigar.
In 1953 Stanley Miller and Harold Urey performed the first experiment to test the Oparin-Haldane Theory about the evolution of prebiotic chemicals.
I for one have no idea. All my drilling is much closer to home.
Why don't they just rent the movie?
I predict creamy delicious Twinkie filling.
On the other hand, It could be bilious acid dregs from the caustic pools of Hell.
Alternatively, they might find seeds. These could be rocketed onto the surface of Mars for a new Chia-Earth.
Unfortunately, I could find no prediction from Nostradamus....
You may find this book by Dr. Thomas Gold of interest.
Since God is said to provide light in the eternal kingdom in Revelation, and he created light (...let there be light...) before he created the Sun and stars, I would think he himself provided the light for the plants. Also, how many plants die without 1 day of light, as the Sun and stars were created the next day? I think we forget to ask how reletivity plays into a 6 day creation. 6 days for whom? Maybe it depends on your perspective. All I really know is that I don't know much but I've never had a reason to doubt God.
Snort!
