For Schumer to become Minority Leader Reid would have to go. I don't think he would go "quietly into the night" or any where else. I didn't realize his leadership was so tenuous. I figure he was a compromise candidate any way between the left and the right with in the Democrat Party.

Schumer would be an ideal Senate minorty leader in one sense -- because he comes from a very liberal state and isn't likely to face any serious threat from a Republican opponent. Having a party leader like Reid -- from a state that has a fairly strong GOP presence and track record -- puts Reid in the same precarious position as Daschle when it comes to holding onto his seat in the Senate.

Excuse me! There is no compromise between the left and the left leaning. There is no right in the party!

List the names in the dem Senate and check their voting record. That says it all!

Sorry, but this allusion to sane thinkers just got stuck in my throat.

Rumor in DC is that Reid's being investigated as a result of the Abramoff scandal. Stay tuned.
