TV in the bedroom halves your sex life - study

ROME (Reuters) - Thinking of buying a TV for the bedroom? Think again -- it could ruin your sex life.

A study by an Italian sexologist has found that couples who have a TV set in their bedroom have sex half as often as those who don't.

"If there's no television in the bedroom, the frequency (of sexual intercourse) doubles," said Serenella Salomoni whose team of psychologists questioned 523 Italian couples to see what effect television had on their sex lives.

On average, Italians who live without TV in the bedroom have sex twice a week, or eight times a month. This drops to an average of four times a month for those with a TV, the study found.

For the over-50s the effect is even more marked, with the average of seven couplings a month falling to just 1.5 times.

The study found certain programmes are far more likely to impede passion than others. Violent films will put a stop to sexual relations for half of all couples, while reality shows stem passion for a third of couples.

Women generally need more than men to be satisfied. This doesn't usually do it for the ladies:

Now, IF you normally take steps to seduce her, give her foreplay, and afterplay, and satisfy her emotionally, as well as during the act, the above is MORE likely to work, once in a while.

I suppose it would depend on what was actually watched on the tv. There's a big difference between "Everybody Loves Raymond" and erotica when it comes to spicing up the bedroom scene. :-)

I think TV causes negativity, lethargy and depression, regardless of what types of programming you watch.

Watching the weather channel doesn't seem to have bothered my marriage.

Yeah; I got excited at first thinking I wouldn't mind moving the bedroom tv to double my sex life, then I remembered that two times zero is still zero.

This is my second marriage, we have been together for about 9 years, officially married for 4, and it's getting better. My first marriage lasted 13 years. I was too young the first time I think.
