Truan protests flag at press conference

At a Tuesday night press conference at Taqueria Alteno held by local Hispanic rights organizations to announce peace marches protesting a wall between Mexico and the U.S., Jose Chavira, spokesman for Mexico's "Frente Unida" or United Front, made a statement before he even opened his mouth. He proudly displayed a flag - complete with swastikas - comparing President Bush to Hitler.

"We associate (Bush) with Hitler in Mexico," Chavira said.

Former state Sen. Carlos Truan quickly protested the flag.

"I'll do all that I can do to support your march," he said. "I think (the wall) is an embarrassment, but that Nazi sign needs to be taken off. It's going to bring more problems for you. I don't want to associate with that."

Nancy Vera, Lulac Council 4444 president, said the flag was a surprise to them.

"This isn't about Hitler or swastikas, but we know that and we're going to change that," she said.

This WALL should have been installed YEARS ago, before the influx of illegals, who think, thanks to the RATS, that they can protest, march and even vote in this country! Once they rooted here, they ACTUALLY think that they are INSTANT citizens of the USA! They have a lot of gall telling us and threatening us with their votes, how to defend ourselves against the FLOOD of illegals which cost EVERY American big bucks to support! This Texan has had it!!

These people are lucky Bush isn't Hitler. If he were, the brownshirts would have come in, shot them or rounded them up, and taken them to concentration camps, after which they'd have never been heard from again. Makes me almost wish it were so.

This isn't going to change until we start electing Libertarians. The GOP has made peace with Big Government and the Liberal Dems. They are now officially part of the problem.

"We associate (Bush) with Hitler in Mexico," Chavira said.

So that's why all the illegals are running to get here? so they can live under "Hitler"? Sorry bud, but your little statement doesn't hold aqua.

I wonder if Pres. Bush really cares. He is already into his 2nd term. I don't really think he cared because of whatever crookedness Mexico and our government are up too.

I really hope he does not leave the American people hanging out there to dry.

"This isn't going to change until we start electing Libertarians"

Republicans will fight your efforts to totally remove all restrictions on immigration. Even Democrats believe in some restrictions.

Don't forget the talking point, though. All those people in Mexico who associate Bush with Hitler will vote Republican when they are granted amnesty.

Don't you guys realize that???

(sarcasm)

The only thing Libertarians would end up doing is liberate everybody including the Mexicans. We need Operation Wetback like they had in the fifties.

Thrusher's Corollary to Godwin's Law:

The weaker, more indefensible, and more illegitimate your argument, position, or political platform is, the more likely you are to compare your opponent to Hitler.

Thrusher's Corollary to Godwin's Law.

Very clever and very correct.

The person to person contact I have had with illegals makes me believe that they want nothing more than to better their lives. They come from a country where laws aren't laws if they aren't enforced, and they are just doing what they need to do in order to have a better life. But then there is the rhetoric of their advocates, who seem to regard them as a fifth column being amassed in the US. If the tables were turned and it was Americans illegally streaming into Mexico, these advocates would have no problem at all with Mexico defending it's sovereignty. We need to have this wall, as well as a regulated guest worker program. No amnesty, except if you report your presence and go home, then you are not barred from applying to enter legally.

Very well put! I too believe in fairness and believe these folks come over to make a better lives for themselves. I know that those that make the track across the harsh desert are folk who are determined to seek employment to feed their families. BUT, they must abide by the USA laws and become a US citizen correctly. After 9-11 and living in a border town, it scares me to think that they can easily cross and murder more Americans. Believe me there are 5million folk living across our border...scary! Our city barely has I believe a little over a million folk, not counting the illegals though. Congress HAS to do something NOW, before we become another 9-11!

Agreed. One thing that needs to be pointed out is that if another 9/11 style attack occurs and it is somehow linked to our porous southern border, things will get real bad real quick for the illegals. It is in their interest too that the US has secure borders and orderly immigration.

Should another 9-11 attack happen because of our porous southern border they might refer to guys like me as the Waffen SS. I said might. Flame away

I've voted against Truan in every election since 1980 except when I didn't live in Nueces County.

I would not condone that, but the fact is that it would happen. If the tide were turned and a terrorist attack in Mexico was linked to illegal American immigration, those people who advocate for illegals in this country would be telling us how it is unfortunate, but understandable that Mexican citizens would react negatively to the illegal invaders from the north and take matters into their own hands.
