He's BAAAAACK! Yup, Prince Alberta, newly relocated to the liberal mecca of San Francisco ensconsed in his new multi-million $$ condo, working in the venture capital field (all bad things when he was running for the WH) will today crawl out from under his rock to deliver himself of a major address about the "evils of executive power"
Wasn't he in Divinity School at one point?
We can also thank Al Gore for the low flush toilets.
How's that for something to be remembered for?
Some years ago (clinton years) I was w/a teacher group touring California schools. One school had 3-4 huge rooms filled w/row on row of computers (must have been 500 computers to the room), and the teacher there told us proudly that they'd gotten them "free" from the federal government.
A few thousand votes?
Understand ANY candidate on the Rep or Dem ticket has a 50/50 chance and I do not care who is picked to represent. The fact is that the Dems cannot breach 49% of the vote, and haven't been able to since Carter barely managed it in his first election after Watergate and 'Nam.
Chances for success among Democrats are..
1) A poor representative for Reps.
2) Southern "perceived" conservative or moderate Democrat.
Reagan won two Majority votes, Bush came close in first, won the majority in second. Bush 41 won the first on Reagan's coattails, lost the second because he was perceived to have betrayed the base. Dole was uninspiring as a candidate. To cancel out the first means to victory for Dems is to find someone the conservative base can at least like. Not always in agreement with, but like.
The second is entirely up to the Dems. If Republicans find a candidate they can support in reasonable good conscience, the Democrat's best hopes are to nominate Warner because he fits the second criteria. If we don't find someone tolerable, they can nominate anyone they want and have a chance to win with less then 50% of the vote.
VERY well said. Needs to be said over and over and over. Thanks for the ammo.
Yes, we have one of those stupid toilets. I hate it. I wanna go back to the old ones, THAT ACTUALLY FLUSHED!
Perhaps I should have put a sarcasm tag on. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Outside of heavily Democratic urban settings, Democrats find it difficult to win by running visibly as Democrats. In my state Democrats usually do not even refer to themselves as Democrats or include the donkey logo in their campaign literature.
David Keene??????
I bet he gets an earful at CPAC.
I just dropped him a note asking him if he was on record as advocating the impeachment of George W. Bush.
Don't forget Carter ran as a populist "smaller, lest pretention Govt?" type while Bill Clinton ran as a "new kind of Democrat and won largely because of the Ross Perot "fix the defecit" rebellion among Conservatives. Since the 60's radicals took over the Democrat party in the early 1970s, the Democrats have NEVER won on their chore views
You are cordially invited to attend an event co-sponsored by The Liberty Coalition and the American Constitution Society this coming Monday at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC. Former Vice-President Al Gore will give a speech addressing the National Security Agency's domestic eavesdropping program and the implications for executive power and constitutional rights. Mr. Gore will be introduced by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr (R-Ga.), highlighting the transpartisan nature of this event.
Hmm...National Review doesn't seem to be covering Al Gore today. And they seemed to love him so much last week...
I hope the pay and benefits are really, really good in the secret service. Can you imagine being assigned to this clown?
DU is going nuts (as predicted)!
The DUmmies are overcome with delirious joy.
Al is the messiah who will lead the dimmiecrats out of the wilderness!
Please start a thread with his reply..
That would have spared America a lot of pain (but deprived FReepers of a lot of laughs).
