MONROVIA, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Monday Washington could not deal "lightly" with al Qaeda in Pakistan but promised to address Islamabad's concerns after a U.S. attack on a Pakistani village.

Speaking to reporters en route to Liberia, Rice declined to provide any specific details on Friday's attack but she said the Pakistani-Afghan border had been "lawless" for some time and was a very difficult area.
"Pakistani forces are operating there and trying to take control and we are trying to help but I don't have anything on the specific situation (Friday's air strike). We will continue to work with the Pakistanis and we will try to address their concerns," she said en route to Monrovia for the inauguration of Liberia's President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
Rice added: "These are not people who can be dealt with lightly but I can't speak to the specifics of these particular circumstances."
Rice declined to comment on whether the attack was aimed at Zawahri or whether he had been killed in the air strike.

They were discussing this at length this am on Fox. We had to tell Pakistan we were going to bomb the house, although Pakistan denies it. So what are the odds a Pakistani mole blabbed to Zawahri and that's why he didn't show up for dinner.

Interesting...
None of the reports state Zawahiri has been heard from or seen in person..only that he was not killed, he missed the dinner, etc. If indeed we have him in custody, it could be awhile before we get the answers. If Al Qaeda has proof positive he is alive and well and back 'in action', we will hear soon from them with definitive proof or a statement with pictures from Zawahiri himself.

Well..we all know the State Department, as an 'institution', leans left. As far as what comes out of her mouth,understand that she is this country's chief diplomate and is following the Roadmap. Now maybe you don't like the Roadmap..but that is a different matter.
