The clear interpretation of this report is that the number of people who are willing to call themselves democrats or independents is drastically shrinking. The real number of republicans is drastically increasing. The poll fails to even look at the current demographics. To poll to their formula you simply are guaranteed to have bad data.
This is not to mean that Zogby created their formula out of any interest in accuracy.

Bush's overall job approval rating in that poll was at 46%.

If special sauce guy says it's 46% then it's really 52%.

But Zogby said the glaring split between how Republicans, Democrats and independents think the President is handling Iraq is remarkable.

In these days of supra-partisan politics 24/7, this is not remarkable at all. Expected, even.

QUESTION:

Why does NewsMax, of all media outlets, keep Zogby on its payroll?!

COMMENT:

ALL of the weekend and early/mid week polls indicate that the President has either maintained or improved his pre-holiday JA ratings:

FoxNews/Opinion Dynamics
42% approve/49% disapprove (UP from 42%/52%)

Gallup/CNN/USAToday
43% approve/54% disapprove (unchanged)

ABCNews/WashingtonPost
46% approve/52% disapprove (unchanged)

CBSNews
41% approve/52% disapprove (UP from 40%/53%)

Even this week's HARRIS POLL (which uses Zogby's excellent/good vs fair/poor schemata and is almost as biased/left-leaning) noted an UPTICK in the President's ratings:

43% approve/56% disapprove (UP from 34%/65%)

FYI: ALL of the above pollsters, with the notable exception of ABCNews/WashPost, OVERSAMPLE DEMOCRATS by at least 5 - 12 points. The ABCNews/WashPost is the only polling organization that is currently surveying an even number of Republicans and Democrats! [Even Rasmussen oversamples Democrats by 3-5 points.]

Just remember: LEADERS LEAD WHILE LOSERS READ POLLS -- the biggest difference between President George W Bush and BJ Clinton!

I would guess the president does not have an overly high approval rating among many here at FR. If Zogby called me, I would tell him I am 'disaprove' of the job president Bush is doing. But that doens't mean I will vote democrat. It means I will support the Club For Growth candidates as they target RINOs and the GOP establishment.

Last poll taken about a month and a half ago? registered around 50% strongly approve and around 20% somewhat approve among members of FR and non-members of FR concerning the President. I would say around a 70% approval is higher then you indicate his support would be even on this board.

You are correct, though, in that approval numbers do not necessarily indicate where votes will be given if given at all.

However, ZOGBY is a fraud outed last election. For many months after 2004 he kept polling if G.W.B. would still win if the election was held that day, that is how desperate he was to regain credibility. He is a noted sympathizer of certain Islamic elements in this country that oppose the WOT, including his own brother's organization, and it has resulted in extreme partisan slants to his polling.

Zogby wouldn't even be a household name, if Rush hadn't pushed his polling numbers in 2000.

The more crack Zogby smokes, the lower Bush's poll numbers go.

Times up Zogby, you fool no one anymore.

With the ash kicking the evil donkey is taking in the hearings, you would expect zombie, their house pollster to come to the rescue with a good old fashion phony - Don't worry John you'll win in a landslide poll.

Another Zomby poll of his fellow Arabs as they left the mosque.
Any politician who would give a dime to this pollster deserves to lose.

Why are gas prices rising again? That is really the only thing that matters for Bush's numbers.

He's got to broaden the sampling group from the 20 democrats that live on his block.
