Many, which is why if they want to change representatives they should be independent and try it in the primaries when it is safe.
Conservatives can NOT afford in the regular election to not vote the Republican in. At that point all should vote the Republican in no matter what.
If you only come out of the closet to vote for your perfect candidate, then you are sabotaging the whole conservative movement.
Unfortunately California is a liberal state because of all the unions and public employees in this state. We can not make major parties the state in one massive shot. It takes perhaps lots of steps. Sometimes three steps forward and two steps back, but it is the only way to get to the end goal of having far more conservative people elected to office.
There is no easy fix and not voting or voting some third party as a protest vote is backwards thinking.

They come in many forms? How many? What are they?
When you say "they", are you referring to all forms of conservatives? Change representatives from what?

True. But in the current case (Arnold), we are taking 1 step forward and tree steps back. This is not advancing anything but liberalism.
I gotta hand you credit for trying to actually post common sense to people who aren't in this forum for that reason or purpose. Their MO is classic Democrat playbook, bootstrapping and citing "conservatism" to addle folks with no history-knowledge of what these folks say and post.
