A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.
"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.
The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

I look at history and demographics of CA. There are NO Republicans in a single state electected office, with the exception of Arnold. Please explain in detail what reasoning lead YOU to make claims that a conservative could get elected governor in CA?

I have yet to find a conservative in OC who plans to vote again for your man Arnold the Magnificent.
The outlook is not good. He won't win without conservatives. Of course with his hard charge leftward, he may pick up enough flotsam and jetsam to make up the difference.
I see the Governor's Office has extended your contract to continue flacking for Arnold.
The republican base turned out, I really get tired of hearing this sh**. WE, the republicans of CA turned out to vote but we were defeated by the Dems who outnumber us. The red counties all voted for the props, including Orange country. If every republican in CA had turned out the props would still have been defeated.
The dems mounted a massive campaign and had the props defeated before the election was held. Blame the Unions and other liberal organizations for the lies and BS told about all the props. Don't blame the republican base, you might as well blame us for not winning the state for Bush in both his elections.
WE ARE OUT NUMBERED, what part of there are more dems than republicans in CA don't you understand?
All of you whiners need to understand that until we somehow get all the welfare queens and other entitlement people to vote republican we are not going to win in CA.
I understand the frustration of not wanting to support Arnold anymore.
But I could never let my precious vote, or non vote, elect a dem.
Other than Arnold, who won in unusual and rare circumstances, what reasoning leads you to make claims that a liberal Republican can elected to a statewide office in CA?
The CAGOP has adopted the attitude of paternal wisom. As the politcal elite at the top of the foodchain, they know what's best for the faithful. They don't consider their untenable positions to be outrageous, they're simply wise and we, the electorate, had better understand that or they will withdraw that elite wisdom.

And I might add, feigning to be a conservative.
It may be too soon to tell.
Arnold has never been nominated and elected under California's usual process. Besides, Arnold is not a Republican (a check-box, does not, a partisan make). Arnold has never been nominated by Republicans in any election.

For those not familiar with this CAGOP red herring, the partisan statistics from the November election, supporting any claim about partisan participation, are yet to be publish by the CASoS.
THAT was exactly my point, when I said that with the exception of Arnold, NO Republicans have been elected to a statewide office.
So the Republicans keep running ultraconservatives with zero charisma and they keep losing. Then they do it again and again.
