Five Danes guilty of Iraq abuse
BBC News ^ | 1/12/06

A Danish army captain and four military police sergeants have been found guilty of abusing prisoners while they were based in southern Iraq.

But the judge ruled that because of "extenuating circumstances", the five would not be punished.

He said they had not received clear guidelines from the Danish military.

Capt Annemette Hommel and the others were convicted of verbal humiliation and forcing prisoners to maintain painful postures during interrogation.

Hard line

Capt Hommel, 38, and the four other defendants had denied the accusations relating to tours of duty in 2004.

The defendants are to a certain degree found guilty, but due to extenuating circumstances there is no basis for a sentence

Judge Jorgen Lougart

The captain, who was ordered to return home from Iraq before her tour of duty ended, said she had done nothing wrong.

Leaving court, she told reporters she thought the court had "opted for an unnecessarily hard line".

Last year, she said the allegations stemmed from a misunderstanding with the Palestinian translators working at the camp, who had objected to her interrogation techniques.

Denmark has about 500 troops in southern Iraq, based near Basra.

A PC war is a joke.
Why bother fighting one?

Moral high horses will cause the end of most modern societies. It's just a mater of "when".

Mmmmmm, let's do some math.

If there are X number of Danish Soldiers are in Iraq
With Y number of them torturing equals a greater percentage
of American soldiers in Iraq being lynched by the lame-stream-media of exactly the same thing.

What? No panties on their heads, no leashes, no naked bodies in a cell that's a bit too cool?

What a bunch of wimps. Their Viking ancestors would be spinning in their graves, if they had graves that is.

I can't tell if that's a man or woman. You don't need to know, and the information likely would not do you any good it you did.

She however knows.

The captain, who was ordered to return home from Iraq before her tour of duty ended, said she had done nothing wrong

Try not to run into the lady in a dark alley, or even a brightly lit one.

What the LADY looks like to me is a justifiably PO'd soldier who just had an unflattering picture taken at the close of a malicious persecution that failed.

If you've got a problem with her hairdo, I'd suggest that a Kevlar helmet doesn't promote high fashion for any wearer.

A more recent picture (like yesterday or the day before)

Not quite the same impressioin one gets from the short haired version. However she still has the "attitude"

If I didn't already have my own Danish (ancestry) babe, this one would definitely be eligible to have my children.
