About Eid al-Adha: One of Iraq's biggest holidays, Eid al-Adha concludes the pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims worldwide celebrate it by slaughtering sheep, goats and cattle.

A familiar story: Eid al-Adha commemorates the patriarch Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son in God's test of his faith. At the last moment, God substituted a sheep for the son. The story is shared by Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

Helping others: As part of the festival, each Muslim family is encouraged to sacrifice an animal and divide it into three parts – one-third for the needy, one-third for friends and family, and one-third for themselves.

If it is so dangerous, why are these people so carefree at the Baghdad version of Disneyland?

I used to sell cars. One of my co-workers was a muslim (though you would never know it by the lifestyle he lived). He bought a goat one year to sacrafice. He picked it up in his demo Sebring convertable. He then came back to work and left the goat in the car until he was ready to go home. When he returned to the car, the goat had eaten just about the entire interior!

It should be appreciated that this holiday is truly unique among the faithful, inasmuch as every other day of the year they celebrate by slaughtering human beings.

I'd love to know how many articles papers ran about Islam and Muslim holidays prior to 9/11 as opposed to after it.

The story is NOT the same in Islam as in Judaism and
Christianity. The MOOOOOslims rewrite the scriptures
to make Ishmael the son Abraham was to sacrifice rather
than the actual son of promise, Isaac. Their so-called
scriptures are phony.

This just is not true. Islam claims that Abraham tried to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, and both Jews and Christians say it was Isaac, so someone is lying or do not know what they are talking about.

The Muslims stole that story, they don't share it. There were no such a thing as muslims at thetime. Abraham was NOT a Muslim no matter hard hard they try make that connection, nor was he anywhere near Mecca. He was thousands of miles away, and 90 years old. But muslims try say this old man walked across a desert no healthy man can cross just to pile a few rocks up in the most misurable place on earth.
ya right. He walked in the other direction.

Muhammad was just a Bedoin camel driver. The Ka'aba was just a rock god shrine Muhammad's grandfather bought for a lute and a sack of wine, and was used as a rock god shine well into Muhammad's adulthood. Muhammad himself worshipped those very same rock gods, one which was named Allah. that's why when you read " Ishaq, the pagan rock worshiping Arabs said 'by Allah" which is a contraction of "Al Ilah", which is the word used in all the Semitic languages (in slightly varied forms) "the god". A common phraze for that black rock was "Al ilah Ta'ala'" (the god most high) These rock gods were numerous, the most important of them being Wudd, Ya'uq, Hubal, Al-lat, 'Uzza,' and Manah. The three latter were goddesses, and the Qur'an reproves the Arabs for styling them "daughters of God".
