Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel will be staying in jail for murder following a legal defeat in Connecticut's courts
Skakel spent the past year appealing his conviction for the murder of his teenage neighbor three decades ago but Connecticut's highest court rejected that appeal.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that that means it's almost certain that Skakel will be spending at least another 16 years in prison.
Lawyers and family members were notified of the high court's ruling Thursday, but it has yet to be filed. The victim's mother went public with the news.
Martha Moxley was bludgeoned to death with a golf club in 1975. Twenty-five years later, Skakel was charged with her murder. In a high-profile trial, Ethel Kennedy's nephew was convicted in 2002. Last year, he appealed the conviction to the state supreme court. His argument was that the 5-year statute of limitations had expired when he was charged, and he argued that the case should not have been transferred from juvenile to superior court.

WAH! I'm a kennedy! ya can't do this ta me! I'll get a cheap lawyer! (OK, maybe not so cheap lawyer!)
WAH!
Actually, I don't think he is a Kennedy, just a Kennedy Cousin...Nephew of Ethel Kennedy. But still...related to the Kennedy's.
one of his comments brought up in trail was "they can't touch me - I'm a kennedy" or something similar.
Yeah....he definetly has Kennedy Connections..but these days, that will not buy you squat.
Mickey Sherman gets the verdict he earned.
The Skakels owned Great Lakes Carbon, a petroleum coke brokerage. They were very wealthy.
he IS a cousin. but he is of the same ilk.
he probably thought that if uncle ted could get away with murder...
Yeh, I don't think that there is a drop of Kennedy blood in his veins--but that makes this even scarier in that it points to the 'Kennedy Kondition' being a contagion.
Stay far, far away from those bustards. ;)
ha! ha!
Ok so now I know the MSM will be out in full force insisting Teddy comment on this every where he shows his jowls--- and asking if he is glad it is just his cousin and not him as well in jail for murder (for Mary Jo).

One day when you least expect it:
Some one will say to you.
You have the right to remain silent. . . . . . .
Add a woman they murdered and they'd be spitting images.
There's no statute on murder, is there? What kind of lame appeal was this?
"On July 18, 1969, at approximately 11:15 PM in Chappaquiddick, Martha's Vinyard, Massachusetts, I was driving my car on Main Street on my way to get the ferry back to Edgartown. I was unfamiliar with the road and turned right onto Dike Road, instead of bearing hard left on Main Street. After proceeding for approximately one-half mile on Dike Road I descended a hill and came upon a narrow bridge. The car went off the side of the bridge. There was one passenger with me, one Miss Mary ( Kennedy was not sure of the spelling of the dead girl's last name, and offered a rough phonetic approximation ), a former secretary of my brother Sen. Robert Kennedy. The car turned over and sank into the water and landed with the roof resting on the bottom. I attempted to open the door and the window of the car but have no recolection of how I got out of the car. I came to the surface and then repeatedly dove down to the car in an attempt to see if the passenger was still in the car. I was unsuccessful in the attempt. I was exhausted and in a state of shock. I recall walking back to where my friends were eating. There was a car parked in front of the cottage and I climbed into the back seat. I then asked for someone to bring me back to Edgartown. I remember walking around for a period of time and then going back to my hotel room. When I fully realized what had happened this morning, I immediately contacted the police."
