I just want to see Erwin Chemerinsky get smacked down.
Although I doubt it'll be as good as last night on Hewitt's show.
And Lileks was just a riot last night...
James Lileks on the Senatitis on display this week in the Judiciary Committee.
HH: Joined now by James Lileks, columnist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, blogger extraordinaire at Lileks.com. James, your take on the week of Alito?
JL: Oh, where does one begin? The fantasy that comes back to me, again and again, is seeing these people grill Albert Einstein.
HH: (laughing)
JL: I would love to see Biden leaning forward with that expression of deep concern, and saying you know, Doc...Doc, I've read that you believe that MC=E2, but I gotta say I'm troubled by it. And I'm puzzled as well. And weren't you a member of a country that elected Hitler?
HH: (laughing)
JL: I mean, it would be like that. It would be like engaging in a colloquy on the theory of relativity with Einstein, with these guys who had a chemistry set when they were in 4th grade, and believe that qualified to study the theoretical...
HH: Oh, you've opened up a whole can...like, what if they interviewed, or they questioned Beethoven?
JL: Well, that would be great. Well, Beethoven would just...that would be perfect, because Beethoven in the later years of his life was deaf. And if Biden's asking the question, you don't have to hear, because he's just going to talk for 28 minutes.
HH: (laughing)
JL: And at the end of it, like the end of the 9th Symphony, when Beethoven couldn't hear the applause, somebody would just turn him towards Biden, and have him make a couple of scowling Beethovenesque gestures. Ah, it's just preposterous. The one thing we have learned, at least, is that we now know for sure that the Republicans do not have an operative hidden deep in Teddy Kennedy's camp, because if they did, this would be the perfect opportunity to slip him talking points based entirely on Dr. Seuss books, and he would read them with absolutely no...with as little comprehension and recognition of the fact that he was asking Alito about whether or not he'd come out against Green Eggs and Ham. He would no more hear the absurdity of that, than the absurdity of... [snip]
THE LAST DAY............................ping

Prof. Samuel Issacharoff
Mr. Carter Phillips <- Caution ... ALL CAPS!!!
Prof. Goodwin Liu <- Liberal pipsqueak
You know, I've always wondered how Kennedy (who has no honor) has the nerve to question anyone else's honor and fitness for anything. Here's a man (Kennedy) who was too cowardly to save a woman from drowning because of his act of stupidity and he has the b@lls to question someone else's integrity.
CHUCKIE SHUMER (above): "Oh my goodness. I'm so concerned. Oh my, I have questions. By the way, I think my bunions hurt today. Is the air OK in here? Don't you feel a chill? My sinus is acting up! Didn't someone bring bagels into the hearing room? Did I mentioned I'm concerned and have questions? "
.
I was dumbfounded..........but then again he is a Democrat and he is against Alito. Pathetic yet apt display of the Peter Principle.
Democrats Try to Slow Alito Confirmation
By LAURIE KELLMAN Friday, January 13, 2006Instead, they are seeking to slow Alito's ascension by demanding that the Judiciary Committee's chairman, Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., delay the panel's vote a week. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid "is urging all Democrats to refrain from committing to a vote either for or against confirmation prior to the caucus next Wednesday," Reid spokesman Jim Manley said.

"As of mid-day in the third day of hearings, the winners are Alito, the conservatives who derailed Harriet Miers, and the President who took his rout on Miers like a man and sent back a judge who is everything a Supreme Court nominee should be: a person of character, deep knowledge and judicial temperament whose polestar is the Constitution and now some mushy liberal concept what our world ought to look like."
Leahy voted for Roberts. So did Levin and Byrd. Here's the tally:

I've been watching CSPAN for most of yesterday and today.
I've never watched or listened to a confirmation hearing this closely before, but, I have followed them on a daily basis.
This one is disgusting and gives me a sick feeling.
:O(
P
Alito's going to make an excellent judge...
