Governor's moves to political center appeal to voters, poll finds

The poll, released Thursday from the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University, is the first sign that Schwarzenegger's recent moves to reposition himself in the political center are paying off.

It found that Schwarzenegger's standing has improved most among Democrats and independent voters. Those groups comprise two-thirds of California's registered voters but generally opposed the governor's agenda for the November special election.

40% of voters statewide said they approve of the job Schwarzenegger is doing, with 51 percent saying they disapprove. That's slightly better than the 36 percent approval rating he received in the university's September poll.

The survey found Schwarzenegger's approval improved among Democrats - from 17 percent in September to 23 percent in January - and among independents - from 26 percent in September to 39 percent this month. His approval among Republicans has dropped during the past four months from 66 percent to 61 percent.

Up 4% statewide to 40%
Up 5% among Democrats to 23%.
Up 13% among independents to 39%.
Down 5% among Republicans to 61%

Looks like every percentage point he gained will cost about $1 billion dollars of your money in 2006-2007

Do my eyes deceive me, or is the media suggesting that Arnold's execution of the terd, Tookie Williams, is a "move to the center?"

According to the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University, I see.

Pardon me if I question the source. It seems quite unlikely that any poll conducted by an arm of the California state university system can be accorded even a scintilla of credibility.

I'll wait for another poll. By a recognized impartial source.

We need FairOpinion here to re assure us of his conservative ways.

Akin to the fox giving you a head count of the chickens each night before you retire. The fox is always reliable. His report always equals your count the following morning.

Not her fault. The Governor's office has reassigned her to the swing shift...

that right. Arnie Baby is Road Kill !

reminds me a bit of the Jesse Ventura phenomenon.

What a dud that ape turned out to be.

Arnie is history, but not a soul has the guts to point out the tea leaves to this political flash-in-the-pan!

The left-leaning electorate here will still vote for a Democrat in November. Why go for a RINO when you can have the real deal in a liberal Democrat? That's just my take on the state of play here in California.

I'm usually here until 2am. But then she doesn't post to me.
