AP/MSNBC ^ | 01/12/2005 | AP

What is relevant is that he was a drug addict,’ says talk show host. An online publication is alleging that Frey's best-selling memoir about substance abuse, "A Million Little Pieces," wildly exaggerates his past, with inflated claims about his criminal record and about his involvement in an accident that killed two high school students. James Frey and the publishing world can relax a little: Oprah isn’t angry.

For days, Frey has been intensely criticized — and defended — over allegations that his best-selling memoir of addiction, “A Million Little Pieces,” was far from the candid self-portrait that he, his publisher and Winfrey had claimed it to be.

But until she made a surprise call Wednesday night to CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Winfrey, who selected the book for her book club, had maintained a suspenseful silence.

Having at times off and watched Oprah, I recall her telling the world that she got into the broadcast profession because she wanted to 'TELL THE TRUTH.'

She wanted to be TRUTH TELLER.

I swear these people are the biggest bags of wind. Amazing going to bat for a guy like this giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I bet she's so sure that Bush lied.

For the life of me, I can not figure out why this moronic woman is as rich and successful as she is. She owns something like 25 houses and is worth a billion dollars.

What do people see in this talentless shrew?

He has been challenged before about passages describing such traumas as receiving root canal surgery without anesthesia and boarding a commercial plane covered in blood and vomit.

Words fail me that people believe this crap.

"LOLOL.......oh yes. It's true even tho it's a lie.

You got that right!!

Frey told them a story that fit their perceptions of the world and they bought it hook, line and sinker.

And they're too "involved" in the story to admit it is all a lie despite line by line proof it is total fiction.

Perfect democrat indeed!

Does Oprah extend her definition of "truth" to what's written about her in the tabloids? Didn't think so.
