"The credibility gap that existed before the hearing has become a credibility chasm," People for the American Way head Ralph Neas said outside the hearing room.

Unfortunately for Ralph Neas, the "People for the American Way" (a far left liberal group) doesn't actually get a vote during the confirmation hearings, so his opinion counts for exactly diddley squat.

Cornyn listed faults in both women? Wow! Wouldn't it be fantastic if Ginsburg retired this year? Ohhhh, the dems would be writhing in the aisles if Bush got another opportunity to fill her vacancy!

I'm just now getting to see Hannity & Colmes repeat. (Phone call interrupted earlier...grrr.)

WOW!

That would be fantastic! Especially if it was replacing Ginsberg.

If the hearings started at the end of Sept. or the 1st of Oct. the Republicans could probably pick up seats in both chambers.

Particularly if President Bush nominated a minority or better yet, a minority woman!

Janice Rogers Brown!

Yes, he is a very poised and polished man and what a US Senator should be, in my opinion. He was looking appreciatively at Senator Graham yesterday who was asking a rapid list of questions of Alito. Graham, who has been catching a ration of stuff here lately, said as an aside to the judge, "You don't have to listen to this, I'm talking to someone else now."

clearer: using o'conner (because they idolized her) he compared HER record to alito's......proving they almost think exactly alike, shwoing that o'conner votes with Scalia more than any other judge.

graham read a lot of ginsburg's writings before she was nominated, when she was the attorney for the ACLU -- pointing out that in today's time she would NEVER get on the court and reminding them that the GOP did NOT trash her during her hearing.......it was sweet.

BTW, notice that they have stopped referring to o'conner....LOL.

"Poor old Ted, have a drink, calm down, don`t worry, you will still be in the Senate, no matter how stupid you are."

The big question: how does this arrogant fool get reelected? What forces are keeping Comrade Kennedy in the Senate?

The greatest thing that can happen is another appointment opportunity for Pres Bush just before the next election. Money can't buy the kind of campaign advertising that these hearings provide.

How would you feel about the opportunity if the nominee were Harriet Meirs -- or somebody like her?

This could be turning out a lot differently, methinks. We dodged a bullet...

When the facts don't support you, get dramatic.

Exactly!

Schumer: "A response is not an answer." Memo to Schumer: An allegation is not evidence.
