Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a major address Monday on the threat posed by policies of the Bush Administration to our constitutional system of checks and balances. The speech will specifically point to domestic wiretapping and torture as examples of the Administrations assertion of executive power in disregard of Congress and the courts. Sponsored by the Liberty Coalition and the American Constitution Society, this speech highlights concern from across the political spectrum. Vice President Gore will be introduced by former Georgia Congressman, Bob Barr.
Wasn't Barr once on the NRA Board?

1. Every President since Carter has wiretapped.
2. Panties on the head of a terrorist are not torture.
NEXT!!!???
You better have better examples than these two!
"Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Cool."
I suspect that Gore and other Democrats will be quite happy with extended presidential powers if they win 2008 election.
Algore's still a looza...had my screen name here at Freepers over 2 years and at aohell for 5 plus years.
Algore's actually a bigger looza than he was 5 years ago...I think he steals Tipper's twinkies and is pushing about 300 fat lbs.
We have it on excellent authority that the White House is tapping communications between prominent Democrats. Democrat staff members have also reportedly been tortured.
Yes. We're that evil.
That hearing today was pure torture. Maybe that's what Big Al is going to talk about.
yes, but the difference is that the Dems want this power for purely domestic use - not to use against enemies of foreign powers.
I hope a terrorist plants a bomb under Algore's fat ass.
I think all of the proceeds of the Freepathon should go to support the DNC. These people are the best hope for a continued Republican majority.
They will use it the way they like. Arbitrary power is very good in the hands of good king and very bad in the hands of bad king. And it is always good in the eyes of the party in power.
the bad king has those powers anyway, clinton's 43% of the the vote in 92 allowed him to conduct Waco on domestic soil, with no call to account.
The lying Stalinist bastard wouldn't know unchecked executive power from a sand flea.
Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a major address...
Stop right there!
One can only guess at the contempt, hatred and hostility he has for the unenlightened voters of the Volunteer State.
I thought Karl Rove had ordered that AlGore be captured, chained and set to Gitmo. < /sarcasm>
He's lucky we, the citizens of the state of Tennessee, didn't discover early what a leftist weenie he truly turned out to be.
We never would have willing foisted such a fraud upon the People of the United States.
I'm sure the good people of Arkansas feel the same.
do not underestimate Karl Rove.
