The bribery probe is separate from the ongoing investigation of lobbyist Jack Abramoff , who pleaded guilty last week to federal charges. Abramoff's investigation could bring down some lawmakers and their aides, including a former aide to Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

No, there is proof that it is separate from the Abramhof scandal, just like it says mid way through tthe article.

I believe that the confusion is in both scandals identifying a "Representative A" as being involved. But the term is used generically in the same way that John/Jane Doe is used in many court cases to either protect the anonymity of a person, or indicate that a person has not been identified.

My recollection is that "Representative A" from the Abramoff scandal is alleged to be Congressman Ney.

Yes, this is the guy who commandeered national guard resources to go get his laptop from his home. Rush also talked about this today.

It has been pointed out, correctly, that my connecting this to Abramoff is wrong. In my defense I am currently blind (vision of 20/800) while working without contact lenses dancing around the possibility of a corneal transplant. I saw the "representative a" and the later mention of Abramoff and missed the "subtle nuance" that they were saying he WASN'T involved with Abramoff. That'll teach me to post when I can't read everything.

He's still a dim and a primo example of their ongoing culture of corruption, however.
