Don’t Rush to Judgment (BILL RUSHER CAP AND HIS PAPERS)
nationalreview.com ^ | January 11, 2006 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

At the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court this morning, Senator Ted Kennedy (D., Mass.) asked Judge Alito (again) about his involvement with a group called the Concerned Alumni of Princeton. The question hit close to home here at National Review, because Ted Kennedy requested that the committee go into executive session to discuss subpoenaing the private papers, stored at the Library of Congress, of William A. Rusher, former publisher of National Review. Rusher was a founding member of CAP.

Bill Rusher answered some questions from NRO Editor Kathryn Lopez this afternoon, shortly after he granted Senator Specter's office access his papers — papers that the New York Times has already been through. Reporter David Kirkpatrick concluded in November, after looking at the Rusher papers: "Those records and others at Mudd Library at Princeton give no indication that Judge Alito, who sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, was among the group's major donors. He was not an active leader of the group, and two of his classmates who were involved and Mr. Rusher said they did not remember his playing a role."

Senator Kennedy, I'm concerned about your membership in the club, "Drunken a-holes who got away with murder."

Also - are you 'concerned' about Senator Byrd's membership in the KKK?

I would like to askl Kennedy why his line of questioning is not unconstitutional. It seems to be that to discriminate against someone in a job interview based on his membership in a club is denying him his rights to free assembly and association which are guaranteed under the constitution.

I have enjoyed reading and listening to Bill Rusher since my college days in 1970. I have always considered him to be one of the intellects of the conservative movement and a person who, along with Bill Buckley and Russell Kirk, was responsible for what finally became the Reagan revolution. Kennedy and his leftist cronies are no match for Mr. Rusher.

Ted Kennedy requested that the committee go into executive session to discuss subpoenaing the private papers...

When Democrats "go into executive session..." it is because they have been found wanting and have to re-group a-la John Socialist Conyers....besides according to Rush, the New York Times has already released the 'private papers’ for all to read.

""When I hear Ted Kennedy say that 'ten-year-old will bear the scars of that kind of activity for the rest of her life,' the name 'Mary Jo Kopechne' just leaps off the page at me." - Rush Limbaugh

Mary Jo bears only the permanent scar of death.

Like starvation, I'm sure that drowning in the back of Ted Kennedy's car is a euphoric experience.

Good interview. Excellent work by K. Lo in getting Bill Rusher's take on this so quickly.

Thanks for the ping. This is just another example of the
desperation of the dems. Trying with all their might to
sling enough mud from somewhere, anywhere in the hopes
some of it will stick to the judge. Pathetic excuses for
human beings, IMO.
