He told Saddam the same thing "publicly" a hundred times.
It means nothing if your not willing to back it up with action.

Oh my.
That is like Iceland threatening to invade Iran. A joke.
Everyone knows the only country Iceland could invade, and take over, is France.

French President Jacques Chirac said Tuesday that it would be a "grave error" for Iran and North Korea to ignore the international community's repeated warnings and press forward with contested nuclear programs. Wow, I am impressed. /sarc

I wonder who's laughing hardest at this declaration, FReepers or Iran and N. Korea It's a tossup, but it's safe to say that a hearty laugh at Chiraq and France was had by one and all!

Now that's funny right there. I don't care who ya are, that's funny!

The only thing more laughable than Chirac threatening Iran and North Korea was that sight of Muhamar Quadaffi standing defiantly (in his dress uniform and Nike tennis shoes) on the bow of one of Lybia's three ships and proclaiming he was going out to meet and do battle with the US Navy.

We can giggle - and I do - at the public declaration of whatever that was a declaration of, but unfortunately it isn't obvious that the real good that the French could do, i.e. limiting European arms sales to Iran, they will do. What they have done is systematically undercut U.S. policy for quite some time now in the Middle East and it doesn't strike me as unreasonable for Ahmadinejad to expect that to continue. Why shouldn't he expect a French or Russian or Chinese veto in the UN Security Council to protect his interests? Why would he expect anything else?
