President George W. Bush denounced some critics of the Iraq war as irresponsible on Tuesday and called for an election-year debate that "brings credit to our democracy, not comfort to our adversaries."
In a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bush made clear he was girding for battle with Democrats in the run-up to the mid-term congressional election in November, when he will try to keep the U.S. Congress in the hands of his Republican Party. "There is a difference between responsible and irresponsible debate and it's even more important to conduct this debate responsibly when American troops are risking their lives overseas," Bush told the veterans organization.
The president predicted more tough fighting and more sacrifice ahead in Iraq in 2006 but said he believed progress will be made against the insurgency and on the Iraqi political process and reconstruction.

Being President, I can appreciate his "high road" tactics in labelling the Demonrats. I'm under no such obligation. They are worthless traitors, no ifs, ands or buts.
I'm sorry, but calling some of these critics irresponsible is pure milk toast.
I'd like more spine.
The term is milque-toast after old Caspar Milquetoast and it doesn't apply here.
Actually, it is you who is wrong. Milk toast is a dish that is easy for small children and weak, sick people to eat. Bush is dispensing it here. Here's a recipe:
I wish all those lib's really had moved to Canada.
If the Democrats LOSE (Meaning gain no seats) this Midterm Election....It is the second step to the end of the Democratic party. (First step being Losing '00 '02 and '04) If they lose '06 and subsequently '08...My Prediction is that the party will split along Moderate and Radical Anti-War lines. (Like a "Progressive" Left wing breaking off.) This would be GOLDEN!
more simple recipe, scalded milk and 1/2 package of saltines....top with a little sugar....a staple of breakfast in my childhood.....so Bush could also be serving up crackers and milk ;-)

Used to be a hot breakfast cereal with the brand name Pablum...short for pabulum, a word that just means food.
Pablum and Milk Toast. Ol' Caspar Milquetoast came from the dish, not the reverse.
We could start the Pablum and Milk Toast Party. Only the blandest and most inoffensive candidates coud run.
In opposition would be the Zwieback and Rusk party. Chewy and hard, but satisfying.
Yeah...parties named after foods. That's the ticket....
The Greens could become the Gorp party....or Tofu
I am impressed that Bush once again came out of the corner fighting. He is doing so much better after 2 months. Watch his approval rating go up.
Work it, Mr President! Work it!
Here's the no-spin transcript:

Well we are infested with. fifth column ,purveyors of sedition and just plain bold faced traitors.. Why the kind words for them they need exposed and shamed since we do not jail people who try to cause harm to this country anymore..
Calling Terrorists freedom fighters should have the same exact consequences as denouncing your citizenship!
Was Hanoi Jane the first prominent traitor to avoid the noose? It has only gotten worse since then.
I'm going to do my best to hang the defeatest/traitor label around their necks this election season.
Too bad the GOP senators are still in dire need of Neuticles
No sorry. They were trying to refer to the timid, weak character Caspar Milquetoast or trying to anyway. The president isn't a recipe and he isn't a weak or timid cartoon character. Thanks for playing.
Who wouldn't love a little milk toast.
